The fact that you don't know about several other shows geared towards black during the 90's makes me think you (or more likely your parents) made a conscious effort to avoid black shows.

I mean he is right. Why are white conservatives so afraid to admit anything is possibly harder for a minority? I am not saying directors or producers are racist at all, but it is def harder to get a mainstream role as a minority. Most shows and movies will be written for strong white leads because that is the main target audience. Do I think this means they should be forced to hire minority actors? Absolutely not, I am all for capitalism and free choice for companies. However, Im not going to bury my head in the sand and say it is not harder for a black actor.

the only reason I remember Hanging with Mr. Cooper was because I would get in trouble if my Dad caught watching it...

They saw that the black community had very few shows that they could relate to, so they capitalized on it and made a network. Good for capitalism

I honestly could give two shits about BET, Im just pointing out the hypocrisy in it all much just like Stacey Dash is. I dont care how you slice it, the fact the BET even exists is very racist.

Well, at least we know you're a dumbarse.

How about the Cosby Show? Or the Jeffersons or Good Times....were those not black families?

but BHM...why do we need a month dedicated to it...put all those brave individuals that are focused on in FEB in the history books and study them as you do any other social studies topic...

I assume they are in the history books already. But what difference does having Feb as BHM do to further segregate in the reality of 2016. Do black people get all uppity towards white people during feb?

Who really cares? Would ending BHM really accomplish anything?

I disagree. In no way do I think BET was started to try and discriminate and claim superiority to the white race. I think it was started to have shows for black actors and make money off a black audience

Which alone makes BET a viable network IMHO

Quit avoiding my questions. Would you vocally support a White People's Television Network? I think it would be viable, don't you? Would you criticize blacks if they did not respect and support white people for forming the network? Why or why not?

I think it's more about catering to what a large demographic wants. Especially on your network channels. For example, Eddie Huang (Creator of "Fresh off the boat") mentioned that when he originally pitched the series to executives. They liked some of his ideas. But needed to tailor it to mainstream America. Needless to say, he doesn't hate the series. But it's not what he originally intended on.

Or we could stop worrying about the color of the skin of the people on these shows (that whole judging by content of character dream thingy) and have interest in the quality of them. I liked Family Matters alot when I was younger and Im white. Why cant a black person feel the same about Married with Children?

She wants to eliminate BET, a privately owned company that makes a lot of black people a lot of money?

She's kind of hypocrite considering she was apart of BET for a number of years.

As long as she got her check I seriously doubt that crossed her mind.

And for the record, I think it should be totally segregated. White awards, black awards. If those that are upset about want it segregated, let's segregate it.

Pretty sure there's a blackpeoplemeet.com and blacksportsonline.com

If it were reversed, there'd be hell to pay.

Im white as paper. I dont give a shite about BET or a potential WET. I just find it so small and petty for white people to dislike BET for the reason of "no fair no fair. If we did it we would be called racist meanies." You are being just as butthurt as the fake racist cries from the other side

I agree and pretty much feel the same way.
