Where are the over-reactionaries who wanted Jones fired a couple weeks ago?

Will they come back and admit that maybe, just maybe, a team can improve over the course of a season and that December is just a tad early to pull the plug on the whole thing?

Nah...who am I kidding...this is the Rant!

All the pieces are finally in place and together for the first time...and these guys have finally realized that a little defense can go a long way. Time to go wreck some shite in Gainesville just after high noon on Saturday.

I was bashing Jones pretty hard but I think I did say that we should let him finish the season before we make any kind of decision on him.

I said if we dont make the tourney he needs to go.ill stand by it but hope like hell hes here next year because means we made it.

Whatever the meeting was could have saved the season..this defensive intensity is smothering teams. Amazing how good defense leads to better offense.

The losses to Houston and CoC are inexcusable though.

I didnt think he would get close to righting the ship but im so happy i was wrong.

True story...been having my seats for about 7 years now and guy next to us last few years texted after houston loss said he was done for year.
Ill give him credit because on first row of our section my 4 seats were filled and we hd 4 seats next to us...he hasnt made one game since road loss to Houston

Hi there.

I am not a JJ fan. Don't think I ever will be.

Wonderful win. And in my opinion a win that should have been a toss up . Yet we were a massive dog.

Our talent is rediclous. That's what all JJ "haters" have been citing.

I am thrilled to see this win and even though I know jones is not a great coach, I am happy to live in the moment, but the reality is this is not the coach that will lead us to long term success

I wouldn't consider myself the biggest Jones fan but I have to say I absolutely love where he's brought our program.

It was pretty frustrating early on, but this is a new team with Victor and Hornsby in the lineup.

LSU fans should support them. They are gonna be fun to watch from here on out.

He is a bad coach. Beating a young Kentucky team does not put you in the tournament.

Having said that, I love the players on this team. Blakeny needs to sit... what was he jawing about?!?

I am one of those.

Things are looking better, that's for sure.

Still a long way to go. Hopefully a sign of things to come.

Right here, we still lost 5 of 14 games with the #1 player in the country. We are still not in line to make the tourney. We still lost to Charleston.

Maybe we turn it around but no denying that pathetic start.

I'll admit I was down on Jones and have been impressed the last 2 games. I'll admit I'm finally excited about the rest of the season and now expect us to make the tournament.

There. Are you happy? Instead of celebrating the win you'd rather create more negativity by starting this thread, so I hope this helps.

I was critical of Coach Jones, as were a lot of people. This team struggled mightily out of the gate and lost a few games that should have been won. However, they look like a different team since SEC play has begun.

I agree with the previous poster that it would be ludicrous to fire him during the season, without giving them a chance to turn it around. They appeared to have righted the ship for now and have gotten a couple of critical SEC victories. The hope is that they do not regress and continue this high level of play. They will need to in order to make the tournament.

I still want him gone. He's still a bad coach. Was yesterday morning and will be tomorrow at this time.

I didn't say "fire him", but we had a lot of losses that had me worried about this season. As recently as the Wake Forest game, we looked like we would need to win the SEC regular season (and maybe the conference tourney) to get into the NCAA's.
Right now we probably don't have the cold hard numbers to justify a bid, but somehow, I don't see a committee leaving Ben Simmons out of the big dance. I mean, we beat Kentucky, Simmons has an average game (14/10) while Quarterman has a dominant game, and ESPN cuts back to interview ... Simmons.

If this team finishes with 18 wins, they will get in. There will be an outcry nationally, but ESPN etc will make sure Simmons has at least one showcase.
