Speaking of dogs and airports, does anyone know if drug dogs can sniff out marijuana edibles?

I would like to take a few packages with me on my flight to NC tomorrow but don't want to spend Christmas in the DFW holding cell. Anybody got experience with this?

I have a former co-worker who admitted to me she did this so she could fly with her dog.

I can see airlines starting to charge for this and/or limiting the size of the dog.

In case no one pointed it out, those dogs are there for comforting travelers. Little crazy but true.

This is also true. There was an article in either the WSJ or Dallas morning news about big airports having dogs around to ease travel anxiety (what a ridiculous society we have become)

I saw a chick post on Facebook yesterday a picture of her dog flying with her with its "emotional support" dog vest on.

What kinda other disabilities would merit having a service dog?

Children with autism have service dogs, especially in a place like an airport. And no, service dogs don't have to wear anything (i.e. vest) signifying them as such. But as with most things these days, people abuse the system which makes it harder for those who actually need the assistance.

those are actually legit

Yes. Pretty amazing actually. I guess the dog can tell when your blood sugar drops and alerts you to take your medicine. I had no idea there was such a thing before I saw one.

I've heard they can. But I've also heard they can't. Please report back as I'm curious about this as well.

What if the service dog is uncomfortable flying? Does the service dog rate a comfort pet to calm its nerves?

There are now service dogs for epilepsy, diabetes, low blood sugar.

But yes, lots of service dogs for "anxiety." I'm ok with it because I love dogs.

My dog curls up with me when I take naps. Maybe he can be my "sleep deprivation prevention" dog.

Most of 'em are BS deals but some are the real thing. Gotta diabetic buddy with a Schnauzer that is able to alert him of an oncoming ketoacidotic crisis.

Some Pet Owners Game the Emotional Support Animal System to Fly Pets for Free

The pet flies in the cabin with the owner.

Also, some large airlines will not fly animals in the cargo hold anymore.

When we left Denver last week they had pot sniffing dogs in the security line to make sure no one was smuggling any pot home. My guess is they can smell edibles.

And what happens when they sit next to someone severely allergic?

I was wondering the same thing. I am not allergic to animals but will be flying to Vegas next month. I will let you know if the situation arises and how it is handled.

Rockbrc, do you have a service dog that licks peanut butter off your balls? Or do you leave that up to your retarded sister? You ugly hillbilly.

Girlfriend is thinking about getting hers registered. You don't need a doctor's excuse at all, just gotta pay like 90 bucks to get it registered, and the thing can go absolutely anywhere plus fly free. Best part is the only thing they are allowed to ask you is "is that a service dog?" Not allowed to ask you about your condition. Seems like a great buffer to prevent sitting next to fatties on flights.

Fatties in scooters need service dogs to help cope with your oppression, shitlord. Label your threads with trigger warning appropriate language next time.
