Easily LSU has suffered the repeated cycle of lack of QB recruitment and QB development. And it's not just Harris, Jennings. It's Mett having to be a savior, JLee and JJ, I'm surprised OP hasn't mentioned Perrilloux since he was Miles crowning signing in 2005. In 2005 LSU had JR for 2005/2006 and Flynn for 2007. Perrilloux gets every chance to not get kicked off the team, then does get kicked off the team. fricking Hatch started a game before getting knocked silly. Two freshman and a Harvard transfer behind a guy begging to be kicked off the team.

How does OP not see this

Exactly right! Open your frickin eyes. So much NFL caliber talent wasted. But, hey, he's a great guy. Geezus!

I didn't read this whole shitty thread but I just wanted to say that Jordan Jefferson and Anthony Jennings both suck as much today as the day that they walked onto campus.

Both have first games that look no different than their last games. So the moral of the story is that young QBs do develop over time, just not at LSU? And people are surprised we can't get top level high school QB talent?

Probably why he was fired during a Super Bowl run for the Ravens.

It's hilarious that both coordinators were fired at their last stint as coordinators. It's not like a HC getting fired and going back to coordinator or a OC or DC getting fired and going back to position coach. Literally both LSU OC and DC coordinators were point blank fired the last time they coordinated an offense or defense.

LSU hasn't developed a QB since Jimbo left in 2006. It's been 10 years you yokel.

It's especially hard to develop them when the only meaningful PT given to them is a road game at Auburn.

But we wouldn't want to run up the score on cupcakes like all the other top 15 teams do.

Which Quarterback that has been at LSU since Miles has been here other than Mett has developed over time to be a high level college quarterback? Flynn was already here. Came in with Russell.

And what is the plan now. Harris is going to be a Junior. I wouldn't be surprised if Jennings transfers out, which I would understand. McMillan has an average arm and was not elite by any stretch. Franks is gone, Haskins hasn't given much of a sign that he will be coming to LSU, we know about Patterson and so now on the recruiting board the next target is another 3 star, dual threat, 6'5" 175 lb project that plays in a shotgun offense. So here goes Miles and Cameron again recruiting a dual threat QB for their I formation, fullback lead, one back set pro style offense with a QB under center most of the time. So what is their plan. Watson at Clemson is a sophmore.

look, we can do better period. no reason to continue to make excuses and just accept it. it took literally an NFL offense in mett's senior year.. for us to finally have a nice offense..
.

look, go back to your madden game.you know nothing about real football or coaching it. you and all the rest of those whiny arse clowns that think you should never lose a game and win a nc every year.

i don't even blame harris. i blame coaching and putting them in best position for success and building confidence in both..

I dont blame him either, he is very very talented, he could really be something special. It is the offense and the play calling that is absolutely horrific..

He's won a national championship with Chris Leak and then with a third string QB.

In LSU's case, that "time" seems to be about a century.

And Lee

quote:

14 TD's and 3 picks 63% comp. with an undefeated team. Maybe awesome was too strong but he did develop and was having a solid season. Jefferson derailed that.

This still makes me throw-up in my mouth every time i think about it...Miles should be fired for having done this alone. I spoke with Lee and his Dad a few years ago when I saw them at a festival in Brenham, they were very polite about it, didnt want to say much of anything negative about Miles because of the "good guy" mantra...and he is no doubt, but you could tell in their eyes and mannerisms there is alot of ill feelings there. I use to coach against his dad, very successful coach, he just said he could never understand it, and when he spoke to miles about it he just replied "its whats best for the team" Lee went on to say that the locker room was "extremely divided" over that one issue, Said 80% of the guys wanted him in, and how the offense looked better with him running it. But there was a thug presence that backed JJ through anything. He said it showed and boiled over in the title game...Said it was just the most helpless feeling he has ever had, players were in miles ear hollering for change at QB and Miles didnt flinch, just kept JJ in.... that should have been grounds for termination right then and there.

People don't want to believe it but we actually got good QB play in 2011.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but they are not entitled to their own facts.

Of course, this is the Rant. Morons reject the facts every day.

Like when the pumpers reject the facts about the program declining for example?

I just made an observation. No way am I going to think our qb play was better in 2011 than 2013 based on those QBR's.

Would you take Mett 2013 or JJ/JL 2011?

But some how Saban has a QB every year that gets him to the playoffs or NC game , Watson at Clemson was the # 1 rated DT QB and Harris was # 2 and there is no comparison , Watson just has better coaching , you're right it does take time but Harris will be a Jr. next season so how much longer will it take with our coaches ?

First, I don't buy that JJ fricked up the season. JL deserved to be benched during the regular season Alabama game. Both JJ and JL did about as well as the other when in there in 2011--both pretty good but kinda shaky.

I was defending Miles to the bitter end in 2011. With the Steele hire last year, I became a full-on "fire Miles" nega-tiger.

Even then though--I was astounded in the NC game. Buddy Ryan--hardly a qb expert--said of a playoff game where Randall Cunningham was playing badly and he put Jim McMahon in:

"I just thought another pitcher might get us something going."

No complicated reasoning. That's all he needed.

Even being the Miles defender I was back then, I was astounded Miles did not put JL in for that reason alone.

What the hell did we have to lose?

The qb situation illustrates that while Miles may recruit well, he is below average in getting the most out of his talent.

Yes, some will lecture and say we should be thankful for what we have/had. 110 wins, nice guy, and all that.

But bottom line, there should be at least two more national championship trophies in the case in Baton Rouge from 2005-2015.

Go tell ohio state and Notre dame ... They seem to just DEVELOPE the hell out of young QBs and win with them. Remember our bowl game last year ? Kids first start for the IRISH. Remember Ohio state winning national Chamoionship with 3rd string QB last year ?? Remember anything ??
