Columbia is fine I just wouldn't pay anything close to retail. Same for TNF.

Make sure you get one large enough for layers underneath. Rain shells normally aren't good for keeping you warm below 50 degrees, or if there is a wind.

I had like three rain jackets at the time. I think it got thrown out during one of my moves. I have a Goretex, and for the longest time, it was awesome. Lately in has sprung a few leaks though. Not bad for going to the grocery store in the rain, but won't keep my dry working out in the rain for a few hours.

I haven't ever found a rain jacket that won't soak through after a few times of being in the rain for an entire day. I'm not talking about walking to and from class either. The ONLY thing that will last and keep rain from soaking through is rubber or PVC, and you have to worry about sweating with those

rei.com

check to see if they have any sales and look in their outlet section.

Many of the brands above are legit. I'm not always a fan of Patagonia though, because it seems that if you have any sort of muscle mass, their stuff won't fit you.

i have both marmot precip and patagonia torrentshell
love em both.

had the sierra designs equivalent and it only lasted a year or so, started flaking on the inside and was useless.

lots of newer ones on ebay for cheaper. or most of the outfitter websites have promo codes if you're looking for a deal.

Did you throw it in a washing machine or dryer by any chance? I've had a MH rain shell for about as long and haven't had any issues.

hmmm...

I may have at some point in the past to dewrinkle it. I guess I never thought that would affect it. But like I said I had it about 8 or 9 years so it had a good run.

Get a Northface shell since you already have a Denali jacket

Or Filson

ETA: The Denali can zip into the shell

The lime green is just terrible in my opinion. I have a red columbia Jacket that is very similar and I love it. Paid around $30 for it a year ago. I'm not sure where everyone is coming from that says they are bad quality as I've had zero issues.

Oh. I like the color. Maybe Columbia has gotten better. I had a bad experience with one of their jackets and it just turned me off, tbh.
