The wife and I just switched to Verizon (me from Sprint, she from TMobile). We went to the Florida game over the weekend and Verizon had their shite so together that the wife was streaming the end of the Alabama game while we watched LSU kick off.

I don't if they plan on ramping up connectivity for every game, but it made us feel even better about our decisions to switch carriers (she had been with TMobile since 2004, I had been with Sprint since 2002).

AT&T was actually working well also. I think I read somewhere that LSU put a lot of money into getting the phones to work better in the stadium.

I was messaging the whole game on ATT and also looking at TD. The only issue I had was uploading a picture to FB.

Last weekend was the first time AT&T was working for me in the stadium. It didn't work for the McNeese game but it sure did for Florida.

Yeah, I continue to put up with a lot of crapolla I don't like from Big Red because when you need a signal & speed, it's a safe bet anytime & anywhere.

Sure as hell was!!

I've been with Verizon forever, sat in my same seats forever, and this was the first time I've been able to stream video highlights of other games while in the stadium.

It was awesome!

I own an AT&T iPhone 6. My Dad has a 6+.

Neither of us could get an iMessage. Or the ESPN app to simply load scores. The investment in data is inconsistent as hell.

AT&T didn't work for me almost at all the entire night. Couldn't open a score app, facebook, email or anything... Displayed "no service" for most of the night

I can almost guarantee you that everyone whose able to upload pictures is a non-AT&T user and/or is using someone's WiFi who has it in suites or is mooching it from the Press Box somehow.

Dude behind me in the SEZ (Verizon) was from Austin and was showing us the streaming replay of the finish of the Mich/Michigan State game on his iPhone 6 about 30 seconds before LSU put it up on the replay boards.

Meanwhile I (AT&T) can't get the ESPN app to even open up.

SOMETIMES switching airplane mode on, waiting 15 sec, then turning it back off may help re-establish an orphaned connection to the tower. It's just too many phones for one or two towers.

Why not spend some TAF Dollars on wifi? Yes, it would require a lot of access points, but could be done.

Hell, I would even pay $5 for reliable connectivity during a 4-5 hour span.

It's being studied but getting the higher ups to see the value has been difficult

in the meantime both major cell services have been hard at work installing DAS

You guys should see the RF noise being generated on gameday...Holy frick

The user experience is different for each person during games in Tiger Stadium as it is very dependent on where you are in relation to the DAS (Distributed Antenna System). You will notice that every carries works well in the concourse because that is where the greatest concentration of the antennas are located. As you get in to the stands a lot of the signal is weakened by obstruction (concrete).

The macro sites on the lights are pretty useless when the stadium is packed as they don't have the capacity to handle that many users data demands at once.

So just because John in the SEZ is able to stream the game doesn't mean than Jane in the NEZ will be able to as well.

Also I'm pretty sure the carriers are responsible for getting a usable data signal to their customers. LSU may provide assistance in some form but I would hope they don't get in to the cell site business. Don't bitch at LSU bitch to your provider.

LSU as an entity that's dependent upon fan experience for games DOES bear responsibility. They allegedly invested large sums on improving data coverage in the stadium and now we're hearing that they only improved it in the places where it doesn't really matter (below the stands).

If it is serious about improving fan experience, I want to be able to see the Twitter Feed during the game so I can keep up with things like an injury update or info being relayed by sideline reporters that folks who are watching and Live Tweeting are rebroadcasting.

I want to be able to see the Gamecast using the ESPN App for Real Time Stats. I want to be able to check scores of other games while I'm there since LSU's E-Media department thinks the Fans would rather see cool gee whiz graphics instead of other scores about a sport we obviously love and care enough about to invest thousands of dollars in order to attend 7 Saturdays a year.

So yes...LSU absolutely does bear responsibility to work out what it will take with the carriers that are popular locally in order to find a solution. Otherwise, you'll see more and more folks on the couch with an iPad on one side, their laptop on the other, and their phone on their lap in their group text while I'm using my Harmony Smart Remote to pause the game to replay things.

Again...If they don't improve the experience, fans will gravitate towards a better one. Thinking this isn't their fault or taking an approach of, "That's not my job," is a recipe for failure.
