Weight loss is very simple.
Cut out all fried foods, trans fat, most saturated fat, added sugar, and sweets.
Lower your caloric intake. If you are eating 2,600 calories a day, eat 2,000.
Drink mainly water...all day. Drink low fat milk...not skim milk. You need fat in your diet.
Cut your carbs and fat by 25-30%..and raise your protein and fiber intake.
Cut out all white bread. Use whole wheat but limit it.
Vegetables are your friends. Fruits are your friends, but they need to visit in smaller numbers and only for breakfast and lunch.
Start exercising. Now! Walk and do pushups at first if that is all you can do. Increase your effort each time. Aerobic is necessary for weight loss but so is weight training. Mix it up.
Cheat days are great...after you have seen great results! At first you must cleanse your body of the toxins that make you fat.
Will power is key.

Stick to the meats and vegetables on your plate and have less of rice, bread and potatoes (fries, mashed etc).
Thats the low hanging fruit right there.

Well I'm pudgy in the middle but strong as an ape at 41.come January when I start to go lean after a year of Gainz I can drop 15 lbs in 2 months by diet alone and increasing the cardio but I could not have gotten this strong without eating like a beast and getting proper rest and recovery.

I guess I shouldn't feel too bad about my numbers then. You're a lot bigger/stronger than I am.

I guess it depends on what one's definition of "fit" is. To me, it's being able to effectively skin up a mountain to back country ski, able to carry a backpack with ropes and gear up a 14er, do big wall climbing in Yosemite, etc. In the south it's probably measured by how much you bench press

Oh heck no. I'll probably never try it. I hate cardio so much. You would think I loved it considering how lean I am, but I hardly ever do it.
