Smoking Spinoff Trifecta

Do you think smoking would be seen as trashy if people weren't addicted to it. Like in the sense of people who will have a few cigarettes socially when they drink. Or someone who might smoke a handful of cigarettes during a given week, but wasn't addicted to the point that they were defined as a "smoker". I know a lot of guys that can smoke while at the bar or socially, but I don't think of them as smokers and therefore don't have the whole trashy stigma attached to them. While I have other friends that will constantly have a pack on them and I think otherwise about their smoking habits.

I only smoke when I bang smack. I'm not addicted and I don't think its trashy.

if you smoke at all, even socially, you are a smoker.
and yes, its still trashy.

Maybe it just seems like the trashier demographic are the ones I always notice smoking.
To me, cigarettes seem trashy while pipe and cigar smokers don't.

one could argue that social smokers are worse because they aren't chemically dependent on their cigs.

people who worry about what other people think of them are trashy

In that case the OT makes Livingston Parish look like the Hamptons.

It's considered trashy because of the campaign to stop it due to the health risks. In the 50's, it wasn't trashy to smoke. Now, it's considered to be the people who are too stupid to realize the risks are the ones still smoking. Those who tend to make all the other bad decisions in life are still making the bad decision to smoke. But one could argue that the occasional (I'm talking 4 or 5 cigarettes a month) smoker really isn't increasing their health risk all that much. If they weren't addictive, maybe we never really would have had the whole anti smoking campaign in the first place. I just feel like it would be exponentially more acceptable if it wasn't addictive.

You are getting into a generational thing.
Did Rita Hayworth look trashy smoking in a scene in 1949? Nope. Smoking looks less trashy with makeup or well dressed and when someone 19-33 is doing it. But if Rita were alive today and had a cig dangling from her claw.... Not glamorous.
Same goes for tattoos. Also alcohol.
Get old or sloppy you are trashy. Smoking has much less margin for error with looking trashy.

I find older heavier women who smoke very sexy. Especially with a little pit stain under their arms.

I think a celebratory cigar at times is a healthy thing.
