If that dude would have played 4 years the numbers would have been staggering. We'd be saving Kevin who?

Faulk, Reed, Dalton Hilliard. Guys, they were great players, but no where near what Leonard Fournette is. He was a freshman last year and was held back by inexperience, no complimentary passing game, and two seniors who needed reps.

If you don't see that he's the best LSU player on the offensive side in the last five decades you just can't see.

The only player we've had at LSU in the last 40 years that was this good is Patrick Peterson (I'm leaving aside Tyrann Mathieu because he was such a strange critter).

He only did what no freshman player has ever done in LSU history

more YPC than Freshmen Faulk or any other FR RB in LSU history.

Reed was special, but he did almost nothing for two years before the lights came on (with him and the coaches). I was at LSU during Faulk's freshman season. I think back to how much they HAD to lean on him because of how good he was and how average that team was in other areas.

Now think about LF. He was playing in a crowded backfield last year and got off to a rocky start. And he STILL broke Faulk's freshman running record. Those games against A&M and ND were all I needed to see. This guy is going to be something else. He may not be the best player in the last 30 years, but barring injury, he is definitely going to be in that conversation when it's all said and done. I will not be at all surprised if he passes everyone on this list.

So what we are hearing is to expect numbers like Marshall Faulk, right?

I wouldn't be at all surprised if he left LSU with 4000 rushing yards and 45 TDs.

In 3 seasons...

Detillier

This dude is a walking, talking sports cliche. He's really LOVES to hear himself talk and is wrong way more than he is right. But oh man, when he is right about something he will go on every local radio show to tell everyone.

most yards and tied for TD's for a freshman right?

Right...for a freshman.

But in the past 27 years, LSU has had multiple RB's put up over 1000 yards, with the one RIGHT BEFORE Fournette putting up 1400 with 16 TD's.

Again...I hate threads like this because you are either forced to agree with some outlandish hyperbolic statement about an LSU player or you're seen as some Debbie Downer by pointing out the hyperbole.

My take? Fournette looks to be an incredibly special player. All signs point to him being one of the best RB's to ever come through LSU, and given how talented our elite RB's have been at LSU that means the kid will be in the elite category in all of the SEC. He has all the tools to become that and then some.

All that said, I think what Detillier said was putting the cart before the horse at this point. that's not a shot at Fournette, but more of a shot at Mike D who felt the need to go that far.

He's got the raw athletic ability to be, but he's not even the best RB at LSU in the last 27 years....yet.

That's over 1000 yds with a mediocre oline, the worst qb play in the SEC, and having to share carries with a committee, and an excruciatingly boring and predictable offense.
