Not sure if this will work but they have LSU at number 5 behind TCU, Baylor, Bama, and Ohio state

That's the Football Power Index. It's their computer formula and not a sportswriter power poll, but it's something to look at throughout the season.

FPI =/= Preseason rankings.

Its a ridiculous formula developed by ESPN to rank teams based on recruiting classes and returning starters

I'd be shocked if we weren't Top 5.

Auburn should be ahead of three of those SEC teams IMO. And yes, power rankings are not to be confused with predicted order of finish.

It is just crazy and wonderful how much things change. Texas used to rule their state with A&M following as the #2. Today, both Texas and A&M are just fighting to be #3 behind Baylor and TCU.

Prediction:

We'll finish 10-2 with losses likely to Bama and Ole Miss. We then beat up on some poor bastard in a New Year's Six bowl game. Finishing 11-2 and inside the top Ten (#5 perhaps) on final rankings.

LSU being number 5 is laughable. Did they explain the reasoning for this?

I love LSU but not sure about 5.

aTm at 8???

Arky at 10????
They will be improved but everyone seems to lose sight that this team was 2-6 in SEC last year. They seem to be on of the trendy picks this year.

It is a lot better than the usual hate for LSU . I have noticed that they have toned down their worship of Sabin !

Arkansas in the top ten is just stupid. People are freaking out about them because they beat 3 crappy teams towards the end of the season. They'll be better but top ten? No way.

the ranking is laughable. We literally don't even have a QB who has proven he can move the ball down the field against elite competition.

How accurate is the FPI in preseason normally? Like should we be excited?
