Tried a few Dark & Stormies the other day

Based on recommendations from another thread.
Pretty damn good summer drink. Very light and sweet. It will compete with the Ice Pick as my goto summer cocktail.
(No, craft beer folks. It's not a new trendy craft beer.)
Dark & Stormy = dark rum and ginger ale. (They only had The Kracken dark rum.)
Ice Pick = vodka and very sweet tea

Well shite.
FWIW, it's quite good with Ginger Ale.
How many regular neighborhood bars carry ginger beer?

It's shocking how poor some bars are.
I went to one that even had a pseudo 20's theme and decor and they couldn't make a Rusty Nail.

Depends on the neighborhood...The closest bar to my house is Cure. They have it.

Fever Tree Ginger Beer is what you're looking for. Goslings is so-so IMO.

This is what I thought as well but it seems like I recall the thread he is referencing saying it was ginger ale. ETA: I recalled correctly
Woohoo! I haven't started losing my mind...yet.

Well that thread is wrong. It's ginger beer. And they are pretty good. Haven't had one in many years.

The original poster in the original thread was wrong. Although the ginger ale he was talking about is stronger than say Seagrams.

If you've never tried it, swing by Whole Foods and pick up some Maine Root Ginger Brew. It transforms a Moscow Mule into something otherworldly, and I have no doubt it would do the same for a Dark and Stormy.
Be warned though, it's a very spicy ginger beer. But so damned good.

This plus a squeezed lime wedge is what I do.

Publiq House and Rusty Nail make a good one.
I ask for Kraken rum.

Got some Fentimans last week. Pretty good. Wish I never looked at the sugar content. Holy hell. I see fever tree has a lite version. Might try to find that.
