Exactly.

And a few idiots still blame it on race.

I mounted a 12ft pole in the middle of my old 86 Mazda B2000 pick up truck. The old Georgia State flag went up today and drove it to the overpass but had to pull over in the emergency lane and wait for traffic to pass so I could turn around. Only had 13feet of clearance. Anyway, cruised back home with everyone honking and giving me the thumbs up signal.

That's awesome. American's hate to be told we can't do something. Especially if we're from the South.

The sale of flags has skyrocketed since the SJW push to ban them. The flag isn't going away.

All of this could have been avoided if the old confederates and bigots of the past happened so admittedly held on to such hateful and twisted traditions. They pulled their hate along with them as the times moved on, and pulled it through every conceivable walk of life.

Now we have its last remaining champions clinging on to it for dear life. For what? What joy does it bring you? Does the discomfort of your fellow citizen, who is honestly hurt by it, mean anything to you? To you get giddy in a defiance or demonstrating your adherence to non compliance and a lack of harmony? What does replacing that flag take away from you.

I really want an answer for that--what do u lose, personally, but putting down that flag.? Seems like you're losing a self of yourself

Ifs it's a symbol of southern pride, why does every other ethnic group that has roots in the south stay clear of it ? Shouldn't we have a flag is representative of all of our southern heritage and just not the one that represents the coloreds "knowing their place?"

Another thing I've noticed, at least on FB. A black guy I grew up with, and a very liberal female have made post that they have a change of heart about the flag. They were completely against it and after doing some damn research, now aren't bothered by it and even hate that things like this are happening.

There isn't a person in American who is "honestly hurt" by a flag.

yep, the confederate battle flag made him find those guns, create a plan, and kill all those innocent people. it possessed him.

it also possessed all the Klan members to do the awful things they did and do.

just like Grand Theft Auto caused all the school shootings in the early 2000's.

Nothing to do with crazy, psycho, sick one-off's. That piece off cloth representing a region's heritage and history spoke to them in their dreams and forced their hands.

What do you gain, personally, by the flag being put down? And really, people are hurt by the flag? If they've been hurting so bad for so long, why cause an uproar over it now? You should go ahead and stop before you make yourself look more ignorant than you already have on this board.

This is insanity. I don't even know how else to describe it.

If this continues (and I don't see why it would stop), you're going to start seeing vocal and visible resistance to this sort of shite. Dividing people across state lines with all of the SCOTUS rulings of late are making this a perfect storm. Add the person in the white house and you have a clusterfrick.

Win the war, write the history. South loses the war, and then talks for 150 years about their superior purpose and superior armies, as they wave their silly flag.

Sorry, South: your best just wasn't good enough.

What does losing the war and how history is written have to do with this issue?

I was born and raised in the South and never encountered a history text book written any other way than the North winning the Civil War. Nor is anyone in this thread debating on who won the war. Your point seems irrelevant ...but hey I am another dumb redneck from the South right?

Symbols are important. Symbols give us, Americans, a sense of identity. That's why our enemies go after them. Symbols are paramount to the American experience. There is no denying that..if you don't you're lying about your American experience. It's something we all share with our citizenship and how we and the world views us.

Twin towers
Bald eagle
US flag
Pearl Harbor
the White House

People (black) have been pissed about it since 1861. But as it usually goes, it takes black people getting slaughtered in masses for our silent majority and our timid fence straddlers to wake up and say something. We've been sick and tired of being sick and tired since 1789, but had to gingerly go along as the rest of the country came to speed with elevating the humanity of the black body. Call me a racist or whatever, but history shows that. It takes an inordinate amount of black suffering for the majority to finally openly empathize with us and rise up with us. We've seen it this past year. Name an historical milestone in white racial progression for black independence and I'll give you a preceding catastrophic event. obamas election is one exclusion. It is what it is.

Every "milestone" for black equality really is just really white racial progression., as the great Chris Rock said
