This would have been so convenient when I was in the military. I could have married my roommate/best bro and we could have got married BAH instead of single. I guarantee you there are heterosexual lifemates in the military right now thinking about this.

Am I the only one that's confused by the sudden rush?
I know people who have been together for 20+ years are going forward with their license, but doesn't the license still require them to get married? Either by a JOP or Licensed Minister? And if so, are they forgoing any celebration with family/friends?

We went to NYC for our wedding since staying home wasn't an option. I don't regret that, getting married in NYC was amazing and will always be an awesome memory but it would have been nice to have the option to stay home and have more family and friends attend.

I think you have so many days to have the wedding or the license expires or whatever. However, you can throw together a small ceremony very quickly at your own house or get married right at the JOP with a friend or two in attendance if you wish.

Understandable, but if I couldn't legally marry my spouse for 20 years, I'd want to celebrate the event with as many people as possible...not just be the first in line to get a license. Just me, though.

Just a person they reasonably believe is a qualified celebrant.

I don't feel like looking it up, but doesn't it say something like "Signed by a person authorized to perform marriages in the State of Louisiana"?
