LinkedIn | What do you do when you're endorsed by people you never met?

I have three 'connections' who have endorsed me in randomized skills. I do not recall meeting these people. I accepted their invitations only because sometimes I do forget people through business meetings and casual contacts. I find these endorsements weird to me.
Furthermore, what percent of businesses really look at endorsements or LinkedIn accounts anyway?

I don't connect with anyone that I do not know.
It is something like Facebook with some of the bs but it can be a resource to check for HR type people.
I have a lot of international business so I do get some connections that I only have talked to but never met. It helps to eventually meet them in person.

Most endorsements are random. LinkedIn recommends a group of people and random skills and gives you an option to "endorse all". At first I felt like a pimp having all these people endorsing me. Then I realized how the system works and nobody is actually singling me out for an endorsement. LinkedIn endorsements are worthless.

From what I've seen endorsements don't mean too much. I am in a form of sales and sales people have no problem linking in with you or endorsing you even if they don't know you. They just want to get the connection and network (which is a part of any sales job so I can't blame them). My line of thinking is these random people endorse me because they want reciprocation. I won't put my name on something I don't know so I don't endorse the randos back.
I have gotten a few random job offers from there, unfortunately from places I don't want to move to. I have been trying to find a new job recently so I have noticed people looking at my profile from companies I've applied to. If you are job hunting I'd say the site is worth keeping up with. If you aren't then I don't see the point in it since it's like professional Facebook.
