Go walk through Central Park and end up at bar at The Boathouse. Nice location with some nice views.
Eataly was very cool but packed when we went. There's an area with tables where you can stand and order food and drinks along with a few restaurants. We had wine and meat/cheese before hitting up the restaurant that made their own pasta.
Chelsae Market is similar but more diverse. One store is popular for selling Lobster.
Spend some time on Bleecker Street for great pizza and Italian food. Focus on the area around John's and Murray's Cheese Shop (highly recommend a grilled cheese from here). Lot's of the shops sell good and cheap food and snacks. Faccio's has great rice balls for a buck apiece. Grab some food and go to the little park there to eat and people watch.
We also did The Greenwich Village tour from foodsofnewyork.com. Loved it and got stuffed. If you do this you'll cover everything I just mentioned around Bleecker Street.

Which burrough?
As others said, check out a Chang joint and be sure to grab up some sweets from Milk bar.
My wife went to check out the new Whitney and ate at Untitled there. She liked it.
If you're into charcuterie and meats and such, check out one of Daniel Boulud's establishments. Bar Boulud is pretty easy to get into. You can try Daniel as well.
I like ABC Kitchen and ABC Cocina.
PDT (Please Don't Tell) is cool, but getting in is a pain in the arse. Line up around 3pm to get in when they open for a cocktail and hot dog.
I don't know. There's so many freaking places to go and things to do. You could eat and drink out every meal for a year and not experience it all.
