Do we finally have the death of small ball?

It looks like the smaller seams gave us the action that we've been wanting since the introduction of the BBCOR bats. Gotta love that teams have to plan for all aspects of hitting and not rely anywhere near as much on that damn bunt. HR's have gone up, runs have gone up, the excitement has been put back into college baseball and it's about time. If someone hits a long ball in TD Ameritrade, it might actually go out! So long UCLA! GEAUX TIGERS!

What's your question? Will bunts and stealing stop being important? No, not as long as we have players like Stevenson and not an entire roster full of Prince Fielders.

Bunts and stealing are always going to be important. But teams have relied on them more the past few years than not because they knew the odds of hitting HR's were pretty low. The game has now leveled out to a good mixture of small ball and guerilla ball. It's put excitement back into the game.

Somebody remind me why they didn't just replicate the same bats and ball they have in The Bigs.

There were two yesterday that were close, so you may want to rethink that comment.

ETA: Who the shite is downvoting this? It's a fact. At least two balls were caught at the warning track yesterday. I know the Rant is full of idiots, but I thought we have the "smartest fans in baseball."

I think our Regional had some incredible pitching performances across the board. That could possibly have resulted in there being no homeruns. There was some very good baseball played at the Box this past weekend. It was a nice blend of offense, defense, and great pitching. Very exciting to watch and looking forward to more great games the rest of the way.

Really curious to see how the new ball plays in TD Ameritrsde. Could be small ball all over the place, in that cavernous park.

Doesn't add up relative to the operating budget. Unscientific numbers tell me that the price of broken bats is inconsequential in the grand scheme of things. If it's about safety, then that's another matter...

LSU baseball can afford nice wooden bats and to replace them.

Small budget, small school teams cannot. That has always been the claim.

A good wood bat can cost as much as an aluminum bat

a good wood bat can also break on the first swing.

I wish college baseball was played with wood, but it's never going to happen again. You thought fans complained about the BBCOR switch, this would be surpass that by a mile
