A lot of the weight is stuff like amniotic fluid.

Yea but when the baby wakes up at 2am, she can just put the baby in bed and pop the tit out then let it go to town. None of that mixing formula and heating it up.

and the fancy arse changing table is never used. just change right there where ever every two hours. new moms thinking the changing table station is important is funny.

my little girl tuned 2 weeks today and breastfeeding has been interesting to say the least. we got lucky and baby latches on no problem but sometimes i still feel the need to help shove the baby on the boob. i feel bad for the wife since the baby is attached to her boob for a fourth of the day but not having to pay for formula and the propaganda about it being better for baby hopefully makes it all worth it

If only we knew then what we know now. Baby clothes as gifts at the shower? No. Diapers and wipes. That's it.

I always give SAMs size diapers and wipes as gifts.

I never used my changing table with my first kid, but I've used it all the time with this kid. It's also a dresser, so not like a waste either way.

I didn't get any at all.

Also, I haven't used the changing table yet. We just use the little changing pad that comes with most diaper bags, after she pooped on the sofa. We haven't even really used her room at all except for storing all her clothes & stuff.

Yea my little one goes through a shite ton of diapers. Ever since I figured out the little yellow line on pampers turns blue when wet, I feel like we've doubled the amount of diapers used.

Yeaaaah...that's actually bullshite based on faulty research.

One study vs thousands that say otherwise...

You know there are studies out there that show no correlation to sun exposure and skin cancer.

colostrum is one of the reasons breastfeeding is good.

quote:

Colostrum is the first milk your breasts produce during pregnancy. Most mothers don't even know it's there unless they leak a bit toward the end of the pregnancy. Your body starts making it about three to four months into pregnancy, and it may leak from your breasts while you're pregnant.

What colostrum lacks in volume it makes up for in power. Some people refer to colostrum as "high octane" milk. It's full of antibodies and immunoglobulins, which not only help protect newborns as they come into our world of bacteria and viruses, but also has a laxative effect that helps them expel the tarry first stools called meconium.

When you feed your baby colostrum, which may appear as clear fluid or be a deep golden color, it's as though you're giving him his first vaccination. Someone once estimated that if human colostrum could be commercially manufactured with all the same antibodies and immunoglobulins in it, it would cost somewhere around $80 an ounce.

Same. No need for a separate changing table

We breast fed for two months. Couldnt keep his blood sugar level up with the first milk that came in the hospitsl, so we had to supplement. Then everything came in fine and went straight breast feeding. He cluster fed for weeks straight. He would feed every 45 minutes for short periods. It was awful for the wife and I. He never had a good 3 hours of sleep. Gave him a gentle stomach infant formula one night after breaking dowm and its been good ever since. Started only giving it at night, but now he's a formula baby. We wish we could have stuck with it, but honestly we were losing our minds. Speaking with the pediatrician, he said its obviously got its plus sides, but switching to formula doesnt mean that your baby won't be perfectly healthy.

true. heck, even if only a few weeks. It is good. I think the women that do it for a long time are saints and the ones that do it until the kid is 3-4 or older are nuts.

All I can think of is that Time magazine cover with the poor kid standing on a stool sucking his moms tit. I could never.

My goal is a year. I read that only 25% make it to the doctor recommended 6 months.
