Just from watching some videos before the game came out it seems like Witchers just try to stay completely out of politics if need be.
There was one quest I ran in to where we killed a bunch of Nilfgaardians in a village. One guy was left and their was an option to kill him or allow them to take him prisoner. I chose to kill him and Geralt's reasoning was that he has to work with nilfgaardians.

A couple of my friends and I do all the time, but we have one friend who mutes us all the time while playing because he has to focus on the cutscenes. I think since we are all playing the same game it is a bit easier. I don't think I could deal with my friends playing Fifa while I played the Witcher.

True, he has said this a few times. But for someone who tries to stay out of things he sure does end up killing alot of them.

In the books people are all the time confusing him with a hired killer. He always has to remind them he only hunts monsters. Lots of people with power get upset at him for not doing as they wish when a monster isn't involved.

When presented with the option to kill or spare something in this game, I merely consider which option has the best chance of giving me the most money and/or XP.

So I ended up not needed moon dust or anything like that. I went back through looting everything I could find so I could craft those things. While I was looting through the sewers making my way back to the surface, I looted a bag just outside of the library you burst into. It did something like 130-160 damage. Took care of ole boy pretty quickly with that thing.
In other words, I got lucky as frick.
SPOILERS for the Now or Never (Triss storyline)
So at the end of the mission you get to decide whether you should let Triss leave with the rest of the mages or ask her to stay or drop the bomb and tell her you love her.
Well being the a-hole I am, I decided to not take any chances and told her that I loved her. Naturally, it worked and Geralt got to put it in. I wonder how this is going to pan out with Yen when I find her.

This is me. I'm always in a party chat with 4-5 friends and i mute them when a cutscene comes on or if I'm in a fight.

I didn't rush, but I didn't do EVERYTHING, that will be the goal of my next play, I won't say anything right now, but this is the game that keeps on giving.

I struggle with giving a shite about either of them, having little or no knowledge of the relationships in prior games/stories. As I understand it, Yen is pre-memory loss love interest. But I don't have any opinion or preference for either one.

I didn't really care about Keira. She was just a witch that I figured Geralt could sleep with. So I did it. Triss was more complex. I spent a lot of time on her missions and felt more invested in her story. Plus it came off like her and Geralt had some history.
