The middle difficulty. I was on 2nd to hardest but wanted meditation to heal me

So I just got to Skellige, for anyone who has made it here:
If you go to the right after first arriving on the island after the ship wreck you'll see a Viking ship, there's tons of valuables around the wreckage. More importantly, on the other side of the Viking ship there is a dead guy, if you loot his body he had 1,000 crowns.

Probably been brought up here (I've only read about half the thread) but some soldiers in the Crow's Nest (Blood Baron's place) had this exact conversation from Pulp Fiction:

Has anybody else gotten stuck in holes in a swamp that are about chest deep? It's happened to me twice. Can't jump out. Can't do anything.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. I agreed to help the Blood Baron in the swamps, then he just leaves me, saying goodbye.

Pardon my ignorance, but what's the deal with the two different swords?
I know the enemies with the silver bars need to be killed with silver sword, but the game currently says my silver sword does way more dps than regular sword. Does this change later in the game? Why not just rock the silver sword for every fight?

The silver sword does that DPS against monsters only, same with steel sword and human enemies. They both do significantly less damage when used against the incorrect enemies iirc.
