Yea, I like Watson as a backup TE at this point in his career. It's all on Hill. He needs to step up and become a #1 TE this year, b/c I think Watson might be too old to step up. Hopefully Harold Spears is legit and adds a few catches as well...b/c Orson Charles, Erik Lorig, and Jack Tabb(making an assumption here) are borderline wasted roster space imo.

Guard- Kelemente isn't going to start at LG, maybe Peat does? And he's a rookie, unproven. Jahri wasn't the greatest last year and he's not getting younger.

Don't forget Lelito

No one is

really weak position for us last year and we didn't improve it. Jenkins is alright but a good NT is key in a 3-4 to stuff the run.

Jenkins was hurt last year. Davidson could be a stud there and bunkley could bounceback.

Hicks and Jordan were great two years ago but were quiet last year.

I definitely think they'll bounceback

quote:

hopefully all the crap with Gallette doesn't affect him. He was quiet at times last year too.

Still very productive and it could motivate him

Spencer isn't the answer nor is parys

No but they're solid depth and there's some nice young guys.

Kikaha has question marks.

Health?

Hawthorne can't cover and Ellerbe hasn't played in a year.

They're both question marks but I'm hoping for at least compentency.

Stephone was considered a reach and not sure if he'll start or how good he'll since he is a rookie.

No he wasn't and he'll start day 1

Safety- if vaccaro plays like he did last year we have a problem.

Tons of depth there

ETA: I really think some are really underrating the DLine

He wasn't a reach at 31, b/c he was our #1 ILB and we couldn't wait until 44(he might be gone). Anthony(31), McKinney(43), Kendricks(45), Perryman(48). All of these guys were top 50 players...Stephone Anthony at 31 wasn't a reach for us.

Would you rather them not take Anthony at 31 and then have to settle for their 3rd or 4th option at ILB at 44?

And we would have missed out on Kikaha, as well. He wouldn't have lasted until 75.

Yeah, I was responding to the comment that he would be a capable starter. I wish we would have pursed Houlser, who ended up signing the minimum with Cleveland, I believe.

the interior D-line wasn't all that bad until Bunkley went down last year.

I mean some guys like Tyrunn Walker were pretty solid in their roles I thought but never seemed to get the bulk of the reps. Now he's gone.

Hicks would have moments where he looked like a dominant player then we wouldn't hear from him for awhile.

a lot of those dudes on the D-line are still young. I think when the team caught some bad breaks last year, they kind of went along for the ride. Nobody really stepped up to be a leader.

course, I could be totally wrong as i'm just a fan watching from a distance.

Based on last years performance could it be safety?

Fair question. We thought we had a top-3 safety group last year and they performed like a bottom-3 group. I hope they live up to their names this year.

I would have to say guard is our biggest weakness. Grubbs is gone and Evans is coming off his worst year and isnt getting younger. This is something that will bite us more in the arse at times this year more than WR.

You still have Colston and Cooks who are a good 1-2. Spiller will be used in a lot of formations as a slot/hybrid receiver im sure. IM NOT GIVING UP ON TOON YET. And Joe Morgan is back.

Im not too worried, but not overly pleased with Bunkley and Jenkins at interior DL

I would say guard as well. It was one of the weaker groups last year with Grubbs & Evans. Hopefully a tackle can shift over or something b/c Evans, Lelito and Kelemete is pretty bad(not even average) on paper. Hopefully either Lelito or Kelemete has improved. We can get by at all our other positions, but it ruins everything if Brees is heavily pressured up the middle.

Also, it does help the guards having Unger at center.

Please no, I didn't post in 1 of those threads. There were 8 of them at one point.

Everyone on this board is hyping him like crazy.

Health?

Health and he's seen as a "one trick pony" ; he's a pure pass rusher and not great in run stopping.

No he wasn't and he'll start day 1

You never know if a rookie will start day 1, that's what training camp is for. And he was the #3 MLB on the board. But I do see he was our guy and he might not have been there in the second.

Sorry but I don't think Jamarca Sanford or Vinnie Sunseri are going to hold down the fort too well.

Nobody thinks Hill will be Jimmy Graham, but he doesn't have to be. A lot of us think he can be Jeremy Shockey though, and that's good enough.

People don't realize that Hill's measureables are on par with Gronk. I was really impressed with him in his limited role last year. If he's gonna be Shockey, he's gonna be Giants Shockey, not our past prime and battered Shockey.

WR is the correct answer. Cooks is the only guy. Colston has maybe a year left but he's done now in my opinion.

TE is just Topheavy. Sucks we lost Jacobs. I'm really really fond of Hill and thinks he breaks out this year (800-1000 yards, 10-12 TDs)

i like the optimism but 800-1000 yards with 10-12TD's just isnt realistic imo

WR, then TE, then OG

Not worried about TE since it's the least important position on offense outside of FB.

WR is bad and guard isn't great. The good news is that there are still some good vet guards available (Sims, Blalock). No WRs worth a shite, doe.
