A-rod is the second most talented player to play the game after Mantle. We'll never see another player hit 57 homeruns while playing gold glove defense at shortstop again.

Arod is easily the greatest short stop of all time.

So tired of hearing this shite. All black players were great? There were no scrubs, bench-warmers and utility players in the Negro leagues?

Well these guys wouldn't be playing in the major leagues, so I don't see your point.

A few other problems with that:

1) Bonds chose to juice. It wasn't the Bambino's fault Landis was a racist POS.

2) Ruth supposedly had some black ancestry. Ty Cobb refused to share hotel rooms with him because of that. I suspect the only reason the Babe wasn't banned on trumped-up charges was Landis didn't want to lose the game's marquee player unless there was definitive proof.

3) Ruth might have padded his numbers on a few pitchers who owed their roster spot to the color line. But he also lost a lot of home runs to the dead ball era, the 15-inch mound, and the smaller number of major league teams (which meant pitchers who served up homers to modern players would have been minor league pitchers in the 1920s.)

"To sweeten the deal, the Yankees included a provision that, should Rodriguez pass Willie Mays on the all-time home-run list, he would get a $6 million bonus. Fresh, after his year-long mandatory vacation, A-Rod has already hit six home runs this season, bringing him to within one swing of that bonus. But the Yankees say they’re not going to pay. The bonus — say the Yankees — was meant to be part of a marketing plan, which A-Rod has rendered worthless by making everyone hate him."

"After his suspension, A-Rod’s 654 accumulated home runs should have been erased from the record books. Major League Baseball should declare them suspect and, therefore, invalid. Why should Babe Ruth and Willie Mays be usurped by cheaters?"

This works in both directions. Some of the Negro League players' stats must be distorted because they didn't play against the best WHITE players of their day.
