A city proper with less than 250,000 population has CCLA and Baton Rouge CC. Is this on par with nationwide cities similar to the size of BR?

Well, only one of those is within the "city proper". The parish has 3 fully private clubs and has 440,000+ people. That's not a crazy number.

It easily sustains them. And I wouldn't think 2 is that many

Not a full country club, but don't forget about Bocage.

Springfield Missouri has a population of 160,000 in the city and a metropolitan statistical area population of about 450k (BR's is around 800k).

There are 4 country clubs within about 10 minutes of each other. They're like churches around here. People are always getting pissed off and changing affiliations.

I'd wager that there are many smaller towns in the South with 2 or more CCs

There ya go.

Even BRCC is pushing it. My parents live within a couple miles of the Baton Rouge Country Club, and they're not in city limits.

My hometown of Tyler has 3 Country Clubs with a population of 100,000. Old money towns have a lot membership. We have one original club where most of the members are O&G and two newer clubs where it's more the doctor/lawyer scene.
