Can't remember where I saw this but I don't think the Empire collapsed after Endor. Pretty sure the Empire is still the group in charge at the start of the series but you're right I didn't realize the Star Destroyers were upgraded watching it live.

BTW, I added a screen cap of the destroyer in space shown in the trailer to my post on the previous page. You can see that it's a new design we've never seen.

They lost control of Coruscant, the capital of the galaxy. But there is still a section of the galaxy fully in their control called The Remnant. Surely that will be the same as the expanded universe because it is a very logical way to do it.

I think what we will have is basically two "superpowers" with the Empire holding a chunk of the galaxy, and the Rebels/Republic holding a chunk. I'm guessing they will be in the middle of a cold war type of scenario when we kick off this movie.

no, not confirmed, just speculated. I don't see how they would show that without showing it in a flashback or something…the burning scenes with him slashing lightsaber happens at beginning of film most likely…not enough time to show him as a pilot with Poe…that rumor came from a grainy "spy" pic taken of what was likely an extra who looked kind of like Adam Driver walking around the green ham common set with an X wing pilot suit.
I'm leaning toward that not being true but you never know

I have a medical condition called Ewok blindness. I can't see Ewoks. It makes watching ROTJ really weird so I just picture Wookies because that's how it was supposed to be anyway.

Well its a sound clip taken directly from ROTJ.
But there has been a lot of speculation on that. It could just be an homage to ROTJ and just using the sound clip and adding to it.
It could be that because he can commune with Anakin's force ghost the past and present are no different to him.

I didn't blink an eye at his saying his father "has" it. Because we know he exists as a Force ghost, referring to him in the present tense is no more strange than considering Obi Wan not dead in ROTJ.
