Overgrown grass, high turnover restaurants, delapitaded strip malls, eyesores of vacant buildings (Jack n Box and Carwash - Stumberg intersection). Also, Sherwood Acres apartments on Coursey look really rough comoared to 10 years ago.

It's the next Airline between Old Woman's Hosp and where Circuit City used to be.

Sherwood Forest started to decline in the 2000's.... It's all downhill from here.

No business really does all that well on Coursey between Sherwood and Hickory Ridge .. But, once your cross Sherwood to Airline, they're just fine .. Coursey is a speedway to work from 6A-9A and home from work from 4P-6P ..

I live right off of Coursey by the Paul Mitchell school and yes it has definitely declined in the last ten years. However I think it has some years left before its unliveable. The new housing development and the Paul Mitchel school have breathed done new life into the area. I wouldn't be surprised if some new shopping centers start being built in place of older ones. We shall see.

It's crazy how florida, government, northern airline used to be such thriving places but now it's all a shite hole.

Actually it really isn't that crazy

Florida Blvd. back in the 70's early 80's was the Rodeo Drive of BR . It's amazing how that street went from the penthouse to the outhouse. Truly depressing when I have to drive down that street. It's a ghetto from downtown to Denham Springs.

Just go ahead and admit that Baton Rouge is Atlanta's little brother. This city continues it's steady decline.

It's really a shame the list of streets in this town have gone to complete trash. Fricking Sherwood, what a joke. Government St is out of control, shitty to drive on, check cashing/advance cash place every .3 miles.

I lived near St Thomas More for a few years. I never had any trouble and I honestly enjoyed my time there.

This was 5 years ago.

The only decent thing in that area shut down at the beginning of the year. RIP Happy's, really was one of the only decent bars in the area.

The CATS bus system is ruining the Coursey area. Period. CATS needs to go.

lol @ the commentary on some of these terrible neighborhoods and hideous parts of town. they are ripe to be conquered, almost like they were developed for it. you can't even pour money into those little crackerbox houses to make them better, and the area businesses are all flavored in line with lower end radio shacks.

One pay day loan place closed but oriental massage moved in. Neighborhood walmart and new bank going up across sherwood. Hair college occupied former school. Stumberg extention soon to open to airline an pecue, to what effect. Winn Dixie just renovated its store. walk on's gone but sante fe occupied. sister forseer's tarot card reader sign is gone, which is probably good. the area may hang in there due to no really bad zones being within easy reach going north south. Limited north/south connectivity may save this part of town in the long run.
