She could also be a float/pool nurse that doesn't include benefits
Very true. They make more hourly because of that.
I make $45/hr at my second registry job with no benefits.
Or maybe she works a baylor program at her hospital?

Baylor program has nothing to do with your location.
Just means you work every weekend(as in every single weekend except for like maybe 2 off a year). In return...you make much more than the other nurses.

NP's have other benefits over PA's as well. In close to 20 states, NP's can own their own practices. Also in rural health centers, PA's must work under a Dr. (3 to a Dr.) while NP's can work independently.

By the way, 70k comes out to $33/hr. And that 70k is after difs, so if I was a betting man I would day that ICU avg comes awfully freaking close to $25/hr base
There are no diffs on weekday day shift.
If you think all RNs make $25/hr base, I don't know what to tell you.

quote:You make a ton more but your base rate wont be higher. If your base rate was $43/hr and you did the baylor program you would make about 150k as an RN in Nola. I almost shite my pants typing about that

No...with the baylor program your base rate is higher. And you get the weekend diff on top of that.

Ok, I already told yall what my wife makes, just asked her what her best friend who worked in ICU made, she said $24/hr base rate at Ochsner. This is with 3 yrs experience. She is now making around $28/hr with NO BENEFITS because she is now in NP school

quote:That sounds about right to me. Because once again, that is based off of total pay at the end of the year which included the weekends, nights, and holidays you work
Avg. for a RN in Louisiana was $28.96/hour as of May 2014.

No it isn't, hourly is quoted as base pay. Diffs are compounded.
If not they would be making $14/hr.
Your wife needs to find another job, start.

Additionally, the 90th percentile were, on average, making just over $38/hour so $43/hour (base) would probably be in the top 1% of nurses in the state

quote:No, you dumbass, the link he posted shows the avg annual pay for a Nurse in LA is 60k, which is where the $28/hr comes from. That 60k included all of the money the nurses made throughout the year which includes weekends, holidays, and nights. Therefore, there base is actually lower than that $28

If you click the link, it is the total amount they made for that year. So yes, it would include OT and diff pay.
