Pisses me off, but could have been a lot worse. Also, I used Turbotax and, for their fee, I wil use a cpa next year.

What was the fee? I use Turbo Tax and it was under $40. Married, mortgage, 3 kids, etc.

Paid about $200 to file fed and state for my wife and me (married filing separate returns). Does that sound right?

If you think that's expensive, wait until you get your bill from the CPA.

Your sarcasm is annoying. Pay your fair share and don't bitch about it.

TurboTax is cheap. A CPA probably charges you $2-300.

If you don't want to pay then withhold more during the year.

I pay 500 to 600, but maybe it's less with different firms and forms.

Why do you think a CPA would cost less than Turbotax?

Why are you giving the government $1700 in interest free money?

I know its great to be getting money back but wouldn't you want to change your withholdings to get the money during the year where you can use it?

I think you are just kidding around, but $1700 back isn't worth trying to adjust withholdings.

1,700 is pretty damn close

How much interest you gonna make off that anyway?

$50?

Oh noes, my bonus was bigger than expected in Q4 and I put it in an ira that reduced my tax liability. If only I had changed my withholdings for a month to ensure I had my money now not a few months from now.

The hassle of W4 changes with payroll easily out weighs 2-3 months of interest I would have gotten bro.
