I agree with you. He was a great recruiter. He was no where near a GOOD big college level x's and 0's coach, however. He was good for the program and he deserves credit for his accomplishments. But, given the tools he had, others...his contemporaries...could have, and did, better.

That is what dumb people do.

I hate Bobby Knight. He was...is...a piece of shite. But, he knew basketball technique 10x better than Dale .

I'm not sure how long he can stick around, but I'll take having him as long as we can.
This team needs some fricking energy. Frick

Lets go after the Guy that beat us today with about 1 talented kid on the team......WHY not.....
I wonder if he can recruit well at AUBURN....offer him a big raise and a bigger talent pool to pick from.

It doesn't really matter. There are a handful of us on this board that understand what LSU basketball was during those years. We would be fortunate to bring the program back to those levels.

The original assertion was that JJ learned under DB and because of that we should temper our expectations because they will mirror DB's. What we that understand DB's real accomplishments have been saying is simply that those accomplishments would turn this program back into a talked about and relevant hoops program. What was intended as more of a swipe at DB is actually a declaration of major turnaround. I for one hope it happens.

It would be good to return to his accomplishment level. No doubt. Best X's and O's guy? bullshite.

If CJJ ends up anywhere close to Dale Brown, LSU is better for it.

If JJ takes us to 2 final 4's in his tenure the Dome will be rocking again. That would be incredible.

Like I said earlier, only a special kind of LSU superfan would undermine our Hall Of Fame basketball coach's ability to coach. We are so lucky to have such a brilliant fan base.

Prove me wrong.
It's been done multiple times in this thread and you don't even realize it.

I've been kicking you like an old doormat, but we'll do this one more time.
1987 final 8 team that was screwed:
Darryl Joe - pg
Anthony Wilson - sg
Nakita Wilson - pf
Benard Woodside - g/f
Jose Vargas - f/c
Fess Irvin - g
where are the NBA stats on these guys?
1986 Final Four team has one legit star in JOhn Williams. Blanton was a 6.6 guy forced to start at center. Anthony Wilson and Derrick Taylor were good guards with no NBA career. Where are all the stars...where's the NBA stats on these guys.
Here's a newsflash...the great 1981 final four team did not have much NBA pedigree on it either.
Compare that to North Carolina in 1982 with Jordan, Worthy, Perkins, Dorthey etc. That is pedigree
Houston Cougars in 1983 had Drexler, Akeem, Micheaux, and other studs.
Your turn....tell us about LSU 1990 because that is all you have...

No it hasn't. I've given Dale his due as a recruiter. And he was fired up. He was not a great game coach. He had superior talent often, but the teams were not often superior.
