You can't blame missed free throws on a coach. Thats kinda ridiculous.

When your team misses half of its free throws then it is likely a focus issue. Sure we could have had on off day but we had fricking guys just throwing free throws up and fading away after they shot them. The form and focus was lacking, the coach needs to notice that and correct that part. This team shot free throws fine at parts of the season but Jones also lets them get lazy at times and when they do the misses go way up. Even if we give Jones a complete pass on free throws, the turnovers and stupid play fall at his feet because that has been an all year problem. This team has a mental issue

I think Johnny Jones teaches them to drive to the goal, jump in the air, do a 180 and throw the ball back out past the 3 point line. I really do. Why else would they do this all year long?

I know this is off the topic but Bruce Hornsby has been an idol if mine since 1986. I love him and I am honored that Keith chose to finish his last two years at my favorite university.

Keith takes after his dad in the fact that he runs and shoots during practice and during the off season. I admire Bruce and Kathy for raising their sons to work hard all of the time. Leadership and drive !

It's sad the coach and many players take games off. Keith never does. It is what it is right now. Perhaps someday , an emphasis will be placed on basketball from the brass at LSU.

It drives me insane when someone like TQ isn't slashing hard to the goal. He is fricking 6'6 and can get the corner on most point guards. TQ should be in the lane every single possession. If he just gets to the elbow he can kick it out to hornsby or Patterson for an open 3. If he gets deeper than he either dunks or dishes it off for a dunk. Instead of a nice fluid motion offense we get this sloppy lazy passing offense that just pushes the ball around the arc.

HBT, I don't disagree that Jones runs a loose ship and has not shown an overall improvement in some of these issues over the course of the season, but absolving the players of any responsibility is unfair to any coach. This team was in the position and prepared to take home a victory today and they did not do what was necessary to put it away.

How is it that CJJ coaches the team well enough to beat West VA and ARK on the road, but not good enough to beat shite teams even at home? OK, he's apparently not the motivator that other coaches may be, but today's performance was embarassing.

While I completely agree that CJJ's demeanor is a bit casual for my taste and would prefer that he put a foot in some asses when they're sleep walking through the game, he can't walk out there and make passes or free throws.

LSU has shot FTs well this year. Why does this performance void all of the good ones earlier on.

Did he force the players to not practice during their time off?

Correct. I've posted here many times that Players take their emotional cues from their head coach. JJ looks asleep during games and too often our players look lifeless as well.

The players do deserve some of the blame. I think most of them are soft outside of Horsnby.

Agreed. If they all put in the effort that he reportedly does, the casual approach of CJJ would probably not be so glaring.

Counting SEC tournaments, LSU made 17 first round tournament exits under Brown.

Ok. That's 17 NCAA tournaments MADE. Then there were the 2 Final 4s. The 10 straight years of making the tournament which were at that time an active record. The sweet 16s and elite 8's. Packed out Deaf Dome. I slept on the PMAC ramp as a student to get into a game with The Tarheels once. The excitement was sky high. If you can tell me that JJ can bring all that back I'll be more than content. Don't try and rewrite history and make it like Dale didn't accomplish anything.

But that's the thing. Before this season, CJJ was pretty damn emotional on the sideline. He racked up techs the last two years. But this season he's gone almost dead for long stretches. Not sure why.

I think JJ has one technical foul in 3 years at LSU.

No, Dale was a hall of fame coach. Some of you people must have rocks in your head.

I had a ball during Brown's tenure (the part of it I was alive for). I didn't say anything about him not accomplishing anything. I'm always amazed at the reading comprehension level of the Rant.

No. Dale had Hall of Fame talent on his teams. He may be a Hall of Fame recruiter, but he was a mediocre coach and his record proves it, given the talent he had.
