For those who did/do paleo, which books did you read to get started? I've done low carb In the past but looking to get into paleo.

Sorry, but you guys are wrong, and there is a very simple reason why
Do you even know about dietary induced thermogenisis, bros?
Wikipedia FTW
Eta if that link is too dense for you -- basically the body expends energy to digest food. It literally burns calories simply digesting food. The different macros have a fairly significan effect on the amount of energy expended.

I have been using a free app called (lose it) that helps track the food you eat and it has helped me. Check it out if you get a chance.

Like others on here said, you need to think of it as a lifestyle change. Make sure you have lots of good food choices available to you so you aren't tempted to grab something unhealthy because it's quick.
My biggest problem was always eating too much late in the day. I lost 45 pounds over a 4 or 5 month period last year. I changed my habits so my "big" meal of the day was at 1:00 or 2:00. Once that was done, I would only eat salad the rest of the day...no croutons or cheese or an excess of dressing. Just lettuce, cucumbers, spinach, carrots, and tomatoes. Your body will adjust.
Other specific foods I've found helpful - baked chicken breasts that I can eat with a salad or in low carb tortillas, oatmeal with flaxseed meal added to it, Smuckers Natural peanut butter for smoothies, salmon fillets that I pan sear, lots of fruit and veggies, and water to drink. When you start seeing results, resisting those weekend temptations will be a little easier.

Fasting for 24 straight hours once or twice a week wasn't even that hard, it was just frankly boring me to death. I use my meals to help break up the monotony of work or other mundane tasks in life.
This right here for me.
I used to go 1-2 full days where all I did was split a little grilled cheese sandwich with Red, but I just love to eat so much now that I'd rather eat small portions of things I love throughout the day. Once my appetite adjusted and I realized I'd feel full if I just exercised self control and stopped myself, it became easy as can be.
Cooking and/or going out to good meals is what constitutes a really fun Friday night to me. I can't lose that.

You make plenty of sense in this thread to me. No idea why your words are being twisted and people are intentionally arguing over something they don't even think the OP should do

how is paleo a fad diet?
it's eating real, normal foods, and basically cutting out most processed shite.
a paleo diet like you suggested, meat and veggies diet, is not a fad
the "paleo brownies" or "paleo gumbo" shite is most definitely a fad though

Robb Wolf for rationale (The Paleo Solution).
Sarah Fragoso for recipe books (Everyday Paleo) also Thai and Italian editions.
Truly, you don't need recipes. Just eat meat and veggies. If you want to add some carbs, try to do so with tubers (potatoes, sweet potatoes, parsnips, etc).
Grey area, but perfectly acceptable for me, is rice.

Practical Paleo. Paleo Takes 5.

No. Very hard to eat a lot of calories before getting filled up on whole foods.

Certainly doesn't require it. Are you trying to lose a bunch of weight? If so, you'll probably want to consider calories.
I think most people would naturally lose weight on Paleo, even though it's not a "diet."
But you could easily mess up if you eat too much nuts, avocado, etc.
Personally, I'm a pretty fit 95% paleo follower. The only difference between me gaining weight and maintaining is the inclusion of nuts/avocado/dairy in my diet.

yea, i dont get into that stuff. People think it's healthy because it falls under the paleo umbrella by definition.

What do you eat on a normal day, Lester? Say you're on the road and need a meal, what's some things you can pick up? Poke rinds allowed?

I never said someone couldnt lose weight by eating McDonalds. So LOL at you.
My argument is McDonalds vs a healthy alternative. Lean proteins, vegetables, fruit.
Am I going to have dig further into what he actually ate? Was he drinking coke? Eating fries, hamburgers, and fried chicken sandwiches? Or was he eating salads, grilled chicken, egg whites, etc?
Really, you should read the thread again before calling someone stupid.
