I do agree that a better Offense would have made his job easier
But having leads late in 4th quarter is really ALL you could ask for as a D Coordinator

I mean... Is it really that far-fetched? Yeah, we had good TOP on offense at times (which kept his D's fresh), but we didn't exactly light up the scoreboard[/quote]
He has to take some responsibility for the offensives low production. It seems they started at their own 1-5 yard line more than any time I can remember.

Can't argue this......

It was too big for Harris last year. Terrance Magee told you that in one of his interviews after the Auburn debacle. He could barely even speak in the huddle. That on top of him not spending the time needed to learn the system just killed him last year.
maybe in that ONE game it was too big for him. but to not get another shot all year should be criminal after what Jennings did. It was also way to big for Jennings in most cases. I think the guy with waaaay more Arm talent should have been given time to sharpen his skills and get some experience..

The only thing I agree would be arky, we were going to lose anyway. All the other games were close. Yes he could have made plays, or he could have shat the bed like Wisconsin and auburn causing us to lose the uf, ole miss, or tamu game. We had a big lead against UK and his first pass was an int. I still think the coaches made the rt decision.

For fun, let's compare the Chavis of the last two years to Malleveto... keeping in mind the later was simultaneous with Lee's Pick 6 Year.
quote:
LSU Defenses against Power 5 Opponents
Yards Per Play (Rank) Points Per Play (Rank) Third down % (Rank)
2008 4.9 (45) .37 (60) 32.5 (16)
2013 5.1 (34) .32 (34) 39.5 (63)
2014 4.9 (26) .28 (17) 37.16 (33)

Hey now, John Chavis is a defensive-mastermind.
You will not bring facts into this argument that dispute the significance of his greatness.

Parmesan is not going to stop unless all fans recognize Chavis as the GOAT

also, I think when your "best offense in school history" *not even sure if thats accurate* is still 6th best in the conference and 35th in the country then that speaks volumes about your program in general.
Another dumbass using totals which is skewed by plays ran. Lsu was 12th in the country in yards per play and 9th in points per play but 105th in plays ran. Only 11 teams in all of cfb had better success, than 2013 lsu, when the ball was snapped.

Top 15-ish of college football in defense every year under him
Thats not that hard to do when your offense usually has the ball all game.

Jesus, this is what us "negatigers" had been screaming and then somebody comes out and says something to that effect who isn't just a lowly ol' message board poster and he gets raked across the coals.

have a better idea how about I look up his stats from his 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014 season.
You mean where he has 2 defenses in the top 15 in yards per play given up and a couple outside the top 30?

For more fun, let's compare Chavis to Pelini.

Exactly. If not for 2011 Chavis has had some really questionable defenses when ranking them by yards per play. His totals will always be low because of our TOP.

I feel sorry for him because most D Coordinators have easy jobs. Most teams have offenses that score 40 points per game, especially in the SEC.

Disagree. That makes the job difficult. You can't expect much for $1.3 million per year.

Wait. We used FACTS. No one is saying our offense made life easier for Chavis. Only that his defenses were average in yards per play and 3rd %.

1 sec team scored 40 a game and it was Georgia at 40.2. Come on
