The backend refers to the money made on financing, not on number of units.

It might refer to both, but I've never heard it used that way.

Either way, dealers will sell cars for a loss if they can make money on the backend (financing).

They also will sell cars for what looks like a loss, but really isn't when you count pack, holdback, etc.

And I've never known a dealership that will negotiate online on a car that's not on their lot. That's just a waste of time.

I like them to leave me the frick alone while I look at a car, don't talk or just hand me the keys for a test drive, and don't fricking play games with me when it comes down to price. Don't kid yourself, you will never in your wildest dreams be able to "sell" me a car. I know exactly what I want, and have driven 15 hours for the right deal, so don't even attempt selling me a maxima when I came to buy a 4x4 dually

If you aggravate me, I'll leave
If you think you know more than me, I'll make you feel like a fool....and then I'll leave
If you wanna dick around on the price, I'll leave

All three of those will lose you the sale. I'll walk out and never look back. If you call me later trying to sell me the car for what I wanted to buy it for, I will ask for a lower price because you're an a-hole.

Basically be a cashier

I use to own a business and buy a lot of trucks.

I had two salespeople I followed and reason no bs. Both guys called when birthday came around and knew when I was hunting for new truck. One sold GM the other sold ford. I am married to price versus quality not gm or ford.
I always got three quotes to keep them honest. They always had a fair price.

They knew what I wanted.
They knew if the price is fair, the product was instock, and they were white I will buy. I kept my fleet truck color white which because have more selection in fleet trucks.

I wanted the trucks delivered in a certain time frame because I was selling off my existing

Personal truck both guys know I want a fairly loaded truck with sync or gm product, white, decently loaded for a fair price. Typically it comes down to if they have the package on the lot and the price is fair. I always give both a fair shot and spread business between both guys.

I prefer a salesman who shares my prejudices and jaded world-view. How am I supposed to trust such a huge purchase to a man who consorts with italians or polish people? So if you're looking for pointers, I'd suggest making some derogatory remark about some lesser race or maybe refuse service to someone beneath you in front of a customer. Of course the most direct approach would be a sign, such as:

I want a car sales person who does not lie to me.

I have yet to meet this person.

I want a sales manager who does not lie to me.

I have yet to meet this person.

Johnny Guiern, sales manager at PL Lexus, lied to me that there is only 3% mark ups on their cars. He was only willing to discount a $49,000 car $1500.

I looked him in the eye, told him I didn't believe a word that came out of his mouth, and left. Drove to Shreveport for a $5000 discount. I called them, they gave me a price, that was that.

Most salesman now and days have no clue what the car is they are selling . They are there to show you the car , then give you a price , then give you to the sales manager . That's it .

I look right through then when I go see a car . If you don't know what you're selling , I have zero respect for you.

The problem with car salesmen is that they love the customer that is stupid and will walk in and pay and not GAF. They do not like to even mess with someone who wants to deal. They are lazy or their managers are lazy.

For me, I want to feel like a got a deal and not like you went in dry on me. I want to be able to compare similar vehicles and prices. I want you to email me options so I can research on my own without you looking over my shoulder. I want you to respond to my calls. I want you to do what you say you are going to do. If I tell you I'm looking for a certain car, then I expect you to call me more than once when that car shows up. I expect that the sticker price is not the final price.

I passed up buying several vehicles last year for the above reasons. Still driving around an 18 year old car because salespeople suck. I'd rather not deal with them.

I expect you to give me a number to work off of. Never should you say it is impossible to make a deal. Trust me, I am not going to give you my highest number first.

Female, hot, shuts the frick up and brings back paperwork after I tell her exactly what I will pay for the car the first time. Gets me out of the dealership by the time my car is washed and filled up with gas.

I deal with the same lady every time, and this is exactly how it goes.

Not to mention the rebates offered by many manufacturers to finance with them. Most have no prepayment penalty, so he's literally throwing away free money with his mindset.

I still think he has never bought a new car. Some of his advice is pretty bad for the car buying climate today.

This is my offer... It is 1% above your hold back if new. 15% off of a fair selling price if used.

Take it or I walk.

There will always be a guy more desperate to sell than I am to buy.
