It is asinine to be so damn critical of the coach that has been a part the most successful runs in our program's history. And now he's bringing in the#1 player in the country and heir apparent to LeBron. Plus another guy who I believe is a future all star shooting guard. The impact of those guys on our program will be staggering and college basketball nation is already preparing for it. Unfortunately, at the moment we have a couple guys that are struggling with the pressure of expectations changing and a bunch of role players who are required to produce consistently at a high level which they are clearly not ready to do. You can blame the coach for giving Malone, Odo and Robinson the opportunity to play at LSU in lieu of guys with less upside but more prepared to contribute, but it was a pick your poison type of situation. We will always be a fun team to watch and attract nba talent because Coach Jones will not overcoach his teams. He has a better record than our previous coach who was c.o.t.y. in two different conferences. I'm not saying some criticism isn't warranted, but keep it in perspective boys and girls.

Is success measured by NIT bids now?

The irony of your post is that you are being critical of people being critical... It smells of hypocrisy.

I hate it too as a devoted follower of LSU Basketball and a true believer of Coach Jones, but you only make it worse.

His coaching with JJ's recruiting would be deadly. Of course Brady would need to modify some things about himself personally.....

Some of you really can't see the forest for the trees. We weren't even making the nit with our previous coach. Coach Jones will build the reputation of LSU being a program that puts players in the NBA. Book it. That is what our potential is as a PROGRAM which is much more important than any damn coach. We tried the "great" coach route, remember? But outside of one year with the sec player of the year, temple and tasmin we were shite for four years. We don't have the talent on this year's team that we had in 09. Lower your expectations. We are about to be a big time program.

At the beginning of the year, how good did you think LSU was? Honestly, I thought 3rd best SEC, NCAA Tournament participant at maybe a 9 seed IDK.

At this point, I think LSU still finishes 4th or 5th and has a good shot at making the tournament. We have had some disappointing games, but you can't call the season a disappointment until we cannot reach our goals, which are really still intact.

If we were fans of Kansas, Arizona or Carolina putting that lineup on the floor, I guarantee we would not be pissed at the head coach. We would be demanding the head of some poor assistant as a scapegoat for not closing the deal on some stud. Some of you aren't using your brain.

And all of those aforementioned teams would probably have four or five losses in the SEC right now. That's just basketball.

Those teams you mentioned (for some reason) do not go 0-2 vs aTm and lose to mizzou, ms state, and auburn.

At least he has created an expectation for Basketball. Before JJ, we just knew we were going to be bad.

This can't be for real. I just refuse to believe it. Do you remember that John Brady got shut down every game against a zone. EVERY. SINGLE. GAME.

In fact, THIS thread references one of the greatest posts on TD, the John Brady playbook. Complete with ill-advised, fadeaway Big Baby 18-footer, or as you might have called it, the John Brady 2007 Zone Buster offense. It worked about as well as you might imagine.

His coaching style is flawed. Hes as inept with in-game adjustments as Miles is on the gridiron. He recruits his arse off, but again, what good does that do if you cant utilize all that talent effectively?

Our team is not good enough nor experienced enough to win close games. We're up and down. That's the mark of a young team. We miss free throws late. That is a lack of ceonfidence. We commit terrible turnovers- that is also inexperience. Believe it or not those are the main reasons we lose not coaching.
