Why not be critical of a coach who:
(1) has no idea how to manage TOs in a game; this has been a repeated issue and to not call a TO on the road during a 13-0 run is inexcusable
(2) said we settled for too many 3s after the first A&M game, however what do we do down the stretch when the game is on the line and A&M is making their run....settle for 3s
(3) cannot motivate his players to give more consistent effort...rebounding is an effort stat and to continue to give up offensive rebounds so easily is inexcusable.
(4) consistently has teams go for extended periods without a FG and just responds "we didn't execute down the stretch"

How can anyone really know he is inept at in-game adjustments at this point? He hasn't had a good team yet. Most of you people have never coached anyone in your entire lives. Try to do it once before you call someone flawed and inept. In basketball, one or two guys make the team good. Let that sink in for minute.

We didn't settle for threes during the end game scenario. We got deep in shot clocks on three possessions when it was a one score game. We ran set plays designed to get inside on all possessions. We had terrible back screen execution, and Hornsby is apparently unable to pin down a chaser with any success. As a result, we ended up with two pick and pops and one turnover when we slipped a screen at the end of the shot clock. Ending up with a contested three is not the same as settling. Just saying.

Next year when we lose mickey and Martin but gain Simmons and Blakeney will we still be too young and inexperienced to make any noise?

It is asinine to be so damn critical of the coach that has been a part the most successful runs in our program's history. And now he's bringing in the#1 player in the country and heir apparent to LeBron. Plus another guy who I believe is a future all star shooting guard. The impact of those guys on our program will be staggering and college basketball nation is already preparing for it. Unfortunately, at the moment we have a couple guys that are struggling with the pressure of expectations changing and a bunch of role players who are required to produce consistently at a high level which they are clearly not ready to do. You can blame the coach for giving Malone, Odo and Robinson the opportunity to play at LSU in lieu of guys with less upside but more prepared to contribute, but it was a pick your poison type of situation. We will always be a fun team to watch and attract nba talent because Coach Jones will not overcoach his teams. He has a better record than our previous coach who was c.o.t.y. in two different conferences. I'm not saying some criticism isn't warranted, but keep it in perspective boys and girls.

I don't think we lose Mickey and Martin at all. Where are they going? Are they transferring?

I'm not talking about the very end of the game, I'm referring to the last 10 minutes of the half. If you say shot selection hasn't been an issue with this team, I don't think you've been watching the same games as me.

How many future nba players need to be on a roster for it to qualify as a good team in your opinion?

3 last year?
2-3 this year?
2-3 next year?

And if LSU is going to be sending tons of players to the NBA (like OP says) then more than likely we will always be young. Look at Kentucky...they are always young with a roster full of McD's AAs that get replaced each years by more AAs. OP thinking we will get both Mickey and Martin back next year is pure delusion. Simmons is a definite 1 and done and more than likely you get max 2 years out of Blakeney.

There will always be an excuse until CJJ takes some accountability with his in-game coaching and decides to work on TO management, setting up an offense/keeping guards under control, and running A GODDAM SUCCESSFUL OUT OF BOUNDS PLAY!!

Our 2009 team was our last good TEAM. We had Spencer, Marcus, Temple, Taz, and Chris Johnson with Terry Martin and Q.Thornton off the bench. You can argue that team was better at EVERY position and we don't have anything close to a guy like Marcus who poured in 24 a night. That team lost three or four sec games. That is the measuring stick because we will be very similar in the future. We are NOT there yet.

Are you seriously asking this fan base to NOT be critical of a coach?

WHO CAN WE RELY ON? Martin doesn't shoot well and misses free throws. Mickey is an inconsistent scorer and a turnover machine. Hornsby can't get his own shot. Quarterman is wild. Gray doing the best he can and Patterson is a role player on his best night. Most of you kids know nothing about basketball. Stop listening to Jay Williams and use your brain.
