Every person I've ever known who had owned a jeep has had to replace the transmission and/or perform major electrical repairs. The models have spanned the last three or four put out.

I'm willing to give this JGC a chance. But I agree with you on the transmission & electrical problems. I've had a '98 JGC 4x4 & a '02 Wrangler. Both of which had similar issues.

Damn. Was hoping I could buy them separately.

Wife's car was destroyed in a wreck so we didn't have time to order one like we wanted.

Posted by ever43 I really liked the old 4Runners but I think the new body style is one of the ugliest cars on the road. That front end.

That's my favorite part

Just got a 4Runner. Nice looking car and drives much better than JGC. You can run for them for 150K.

Lol. More like 250

100% False. I had a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4x4 that never had any of the issues you mentioned and got the top of the range when I traded it in on my new wrangler.

Oh yeah I forgot we just dropped a grand on the AC too. Maybe we got a lemon. But her previous car was a 98 and it was a POS too. I'm too snake bit to ever buy another.

I'm at damn near 300K on my 4Runner. Just an FYI

I'd go Toyota all day.

I've owned a 4Runner & drove it up until about 100K miles. Never had a problem with it & it still drove like new the day I sold it. I now own a '14 JGC Overland/EcoDiesel. It's only got 15K miles on it but so far no issues whatsoever. The ride is really smooth & it'll get up & go in a hurry. The interior is top notch & has a lot of features you'll usually only find on much higher end vehicles. I'd recommend either but for different reasons. The 'Runner for proven durability, the JGC for the luxury and design.

People treating 2011- GCs like the GCs of the 00s are making a mistake. Much better product.

I wanted a 4Runner, but they're pricy and I had trouble finding what I wanted with 4wd and a decent interior for what I wanted to spend.

The gap has narrowed somewhat, but the 4Runner is still significantly better.

Buying used, 4Runner no doubt.

When I purchased our SUV it was between the 4Runner, Explorer and Grand Cherokee. We ruled out the Grand Cherokee because it was much smaller. Between the 4Runner and the Explorer, the Explorer won because of ride comfort. The 4Runner is rough as hell. I liked some of the features of the 4Runner and the feeling like a tank aspect but the Explorer won. It had a third row seat and much more features.

We went through this same debate a couple of years ago (along with the Explorer). Wife liked the JGC, I liked the 4Runner. It's her vehicle, so ultimately it was her decision. She opted the JGC, and so far it's been fine. I've been pleasantly surprised with how much I like it.

I bought a 2014 Highlander Limited a few months ago. I love it! I originally wanted a 4Runner but fell in love with the Highlander. You can't go wrong with a Yota. Highlanders come in AWD too.
