IDK if they still make them but you're right, that thing is sweet!

Not sure.
The current fronts will still flatten you though.

I think that's called a "cabover" truck. They where made because the USDOT limited the length of a big rig to some length that was shorter than a traditional rig.
They are highly collected and restored today.
I'm no truck expert but, I have known a few owner/operators over the years.

That is a cabover and they are not making them for that chassis and application They are making a cabover for refuse use mostly.

They still make them in Europe, not so much in the USA.

I have a couple of these platforms from about late 70's and they are used pretty regularly and are beasts.

Yeah, it is a cabover style. They were once popular when overall length of rig and trailer were limited much stricter than today. I never really liked them, they were always hot, loud and difficult to work on. The newer cabovers in europe may be much better now, but I think it would be difficult to overcome past prejudices for them to become popular in the US again.

Haven't seen one in a while, but I do see the "parade" lights coming back. Not sure what they really are called, but in my youth most all the semi's had lights galore. Nice!

Can't wait to start seeing these bad boys over here. They are cool with tricked out custom horn blows.

That is a cabover. One of my earliest memories is riding my dad in our farms international cabover going to the elevator. I don't see them much in the states but that is all they have here. The roads have european dimensions and nothing but roundabouts so I think the shorter lenght would help.

Yes they are still made but not super popular. There are a few nice ones around and some guys still love them. I am hit or miss if it is clean and set up nice then I like them. If it is just some old ragged out truck then no.
As far as "parade" lights, I think you are tlaking about what we in the industry call chicken lights. There are many many trucks with lights on every inch. Some look great and some are overdone

Have you used any of those new caterpillar trucks? They just came out with them when I worked there, and all I remember was the cabs were nice as hell, complicated, and they were extremely expensive

Get in a wreck in that thing you would be the first one there.

With oil prices these days, they may start making them again. Shaped like a brick probably wasn't very economical.
