it's dead here today, so i wanted to see some thoughts regarding this.

let's say Gordon comes back and plays decently (the level he was playing in the last 5 or 6 games pre injury this season).

Gordon has a player option next year for 15.5 mil. Let's say he tests free agency and doesn't get much to lure him away from that. i think the only way he leaves is if Indiana offers him a decent contract.

would you want Dell to offer him to restructure and take a 3 year/30 mil deal? or just bite the bullet on the one year, 15 mil? or what other realistic options do you take? cut him and take the stretch provision?

i pray that if he does stay next year, he plays his arse off in a contract year to make some money from somewhere else.

also, can't believe this guy has been in NOLA 4 years already.

I'd dance down the aisle to have him at 3/30 assuming he isn't irreparably damaged

If my options are 3 years 30 mil or 1 yr 15 mil, he'd pretty much have to finish out the year without missing any more games to consider the former.

Truthfully I would just like to see him gone. I think he tries his hardest to like playing in NOLA but it's just not the place he wants to be. Even if he restructured it would have to be a damn bargain for me to want him to stay. And that's true even if he plays all-star caliber ball the remainder of the year - he can't seem to stay healthy. I had high hopes for him when he came on board after CP3 left but it has just been disappointment after disappointment. Save the $$$ and pay a max salary to somebody who wants to play alongside a top 3 player in the NBA.

He could come back and avg 100 ppg and he still wouldn't command a contract that pays him $15m/yr.

Quail, there is literally a better chance that you could have a foursome with Mila Kunis, Minka Kelly and Heady than Gordon testing FA this offseason.

I couldn't give him 10mil/yr anymore, even if he played well. The fear of him breaking something is so high you'd be gambling your future with AD with that move.

I'm not sure he's worth that investment. He's not worth anything when he's sitting injured, and that happens far too often for my liking

I have actually thought about this a lot lately and almost started this thread. I was going to wait to see how he looked when he came back but since you brought it up, here it goes.

The number I was thinking is 3/27mil so that is pretty close to 3/30 mil. He seems to have really bought in and at 3/27 you are essentially paying MLE for the last 2 years. Of course, health will always be the overriding factor with him. It is definitely something Dell should at least explore.

I'd rather stretch him, than keep him for 15 mil for 1 year or 30 over 3.
