Chuck Fairbanks deserves to be in any top 2-5 OU coaches list. Bud built and fed it. Chuck restored it and was the architect of the 70's versions.

Strange how he's always overlooked, probably because most people my age associate him with the Patriots. Probably because he bombed latter at CU and the grade fixing (or some similar) scandal at OU

The 1971 OU vs. Neb game has to still be ranked in the top 5 greatest games of all time........

If I was to rank them it would go

Best:
Wilkinson
Fairbanks
Switzer
Stoops

Worst:
Schnellenburger
Blake
Gibbs

You could make hell of an argument to move Stoops to second. It would not be far fetched since he has won 5 of 6 majors (as created by new system) and could be only one to win all 6.

Barry had such cool swagger for a place like Oklahoma. He was a pretty good coach.

GOAT is subjective.

Saban.

And Bama has a lot of bullshite titles. 1973 undefeated Notre Dame vs undefeated Bama and won yet Bama claims the UPI NC. That is just embarrassing unless your a Bammer idiot.

BTW I was at that game with my stepdad. Ara Parseghian throwing the ball on 3rd and long was one of the best coaching calls ever. Sealed the deal for the Irish.

Saban, Meyer, Wilkinson, Stoops or Switzer?

Bear Bryant

Switzer was at one college who was already a powerhouse when he took over.

Bear turned around 0-10 teams and still went 323- 85.

Switzer couldn't have won an SEC title at Kentucky.

They were awarded the UPI title before the bowl. You already knew that though.
