Yes, coming from what the team was in 98 and 99 it took time to establish a winning culture.
Just so we are clear - are you trying to say that the LSU program that Saban took over was at the same level as the program Miles took over? And if so are you strictly basing this on the record of the 2004 team?
Are you saying the expectation level should have been the same?
Saban took over less and had to build more. You aren't seriously trying to make this argument.

First of all, Saban didn't coach 6 seasons at LSU. Get that part straight if you want to be taken seriously.
And yes, losing only 3 games in comparison to the end of Dinardo was establishing a winning culture. Did you watch 98 and 99? How old were you then?
Go back and compare '98 and '99 LSU to '03 and '04 LSU teams. The expectations were lower at the beginning of Saban's tenure. Miles and Saban stepped into different situations and if you don't believe that then you are either stupid or dishonest.
If Saban had stayed after 2004 and gone 5-3 and 4-4 in conference in 2005 and 2006 people would have bitched just as much as they bitch right now. In fact, people bitched throughout 2004.

USC
Miami
Georgia
Texas

If LSU has even average QB play, let alone above average, it is very likely in the playoff. Oh well. Wait til next year.

They won the NC in 2003 DUMBASS..........

YOU CALL THAT A TOP 5 PROGRAM. That is laughable.
LSU is where they are AT today cause of what Saban built.........

It's simply amazing to me how much credit Nick Saban gets for, essentially, not having Lou Tepper on his defensive staff. If the administration had allowed DiNardo to keep Carl Reese, DiNardo never gets fired, Saban never gets hired, and we don't have to wait until 2003 for our first NC.

1 good year doesnt elavate you to top 5 status.
Saban had 4 losses in 2000,3 losses in 2001, 5 losses in 2002, 1 loss in 2003, and 3 losses in 2004 and you call that a top 5 program? If you really think that then Miles has lsu as a top 3 program.

Saban walked into a program stocked with nfl talent.
Saban did make the administration put money into facilities.

You were the one that created a 15 page thread shitting on the 2001 SEC championship team in an effort to glorify the 2013 team.
Sounds like you are bitter and Saban obsessed. It's sad actually.

Definitely a discussion I find interesting. If you can first give me what your criteria would be. Then we can hash it out. Might be more interesting to make a separate thread?
