Are we going in the right direction with dual threat QB's???? Seems to me they struggle too much in the passing game and reading defenses.I rather have a pass first QB.

Or a pass-first, dual-threat QB

Jefferson was not considered a dual threat qb. So, now that you know that, read your post again and see if it makes sense to you.

so you should be happy with Jennings then, since he is a "pass first QB"

How fricking hard is it to understand "Dual-Threat"
If they can't pass, they aren't dual threat. Simple as that.

A true dual threat wins championships in college football, and always has. A pass first QB with running ability is now very Ideal.
A stone footed pocket passer would always be my third option. A guy that can run and pass equally well, will always be my first option.
A mobile QB (Murray, Petty, Cook, Sims, Winston) who can make something happen to escape pressure or pick up third downs/short TDs, but not necessarily run like RB, will definitely be a very close 2nd option.

Either one would be better than a no-threat QB.

When you have talent at all positions the need to have a qb that runs is as much as you need a rb that throws. The option to run can be an advantage however at the collegiate level these young men turn to run too soon, in my opinion, without exhausting all of their reads.
A dual threat is a possible sign of an inexperienced O-line. With the power we have at rb year in and year out we should focus on recruiting a GREAT offensive line along with a 'good' qb that can manage a game and make 10-20 yard throws to our super talented receivers. That combined with our defenses year after year LSU can be a dynasty.

In order to be a dual-threat QB, you have to be able to pass. Just b/c a QB is athletic and can run doesn't make him a dual threat. Jennings is in no way a dual-threat QB. The threat of passing the ball is nonexistent.

Jennings was listed as a pro style qb by all the services. Harris was listed as a dual threat. Seems like most want the dual threat to start.

Russell wilson is what we should be striving for. Pass first with the ability to extend the play with your legs. This will limit injuries to the QB especially in the SEC

I prefer a Chris Leak type. He could run but he would destroy you from the pocket

Just curious? Name the pass first QBs in college you would prefer over a dual threat QB. And list where their team is ranked. Thanks.

It all comes down to the scheme

I think you are confusing "dual threat qb" with "running qb"

so we wouldn't take Mariotta the Oregon QB, or Bamas QB or Auburns QB or Jamis Winston, or Dak Prescott. All those teams have duel threat QB's so I'm sure they must be at the bottom of the rankings.

Last 2 NC s Mauck and Flynn, game managers, but Mettenberger (pure pocket passer) fits LSU s offense the best. I know hard to find but we are LSU, we recruit great but our good QB s are few and too far between. Passing ability, complememts, improves our great running game.Got to have somebody that can at least make the lb s,secondary respect the pass. That didnt happen this year. Amazed we could run as effective as we did.
