Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III will not return to the team next season, according to CBS Sports.

After losing his starting job to Colt McCoy, several in the organization believe that the team will part with Griffin after the season. There has reportedly been a growing rift between Griffin and the team that is beyond repair.

After giving up three first-round draft picks to select Griffin No. 2 overall in 2012, the team will likely trade him in the offseason. CBS Sports contacted five evaluators about Griffin, and only one believed the Redskins would get as high as a third-round pick for him.

Jeez, talk about horrible ROI.

So was the RGIII trade worse than the Ricky Williams trade?

I wonder where he'll end up. He's not the kind of guy you want to have as a backup unless your starter is a read option guy, too.

I believe I said on this board several years ago that RGIII is a bust waiting to happen. I was laughed at.

I would think Arizona would have to at least be interested. Especially for just a 4th or 5th rounder.

He has actually regressed as far as mechanics are concerned....
If Art Briles ends up in the NFL he may look at RGIII

This seems like the combination of a terribly run organization with a young quarterback who needs to handle that chaos better.

It will be interesting to see where he lands. With the right organization maybe RG3 could grow into a complete QB.

RG3 is a great opportunity for a struggling team. He was at his best as a rookie when they let him run wild. He sucks as a "franchise" QB who has to be protected from hits. If all you invest in him is a 4th rounder you can let him play like he did in college and not worry about it if he tears an ACL again. He's worth a gamble for a QB desperate team.

I have to admit, it is kind of sad to see a guy like RGIII go from the peaks of athletic celebrity to the depths of being a NFL bust.
