F&DB - Need NOLA Food Suggestions
Posted on 12/1/14 at 1:52 pm

I enjoy reading your fatty weekend posts and was hoping for some suggestions on restaurants to take the wifey to for our anniversary weekend. We will be arriving on Dec 6 and leaving on Dec 9.
We are pretty familiar with NOLA but are trying to avoid any of the "tourist" traps. She is preggo so booze are not as important as good food. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Usher will be in town. His tunes may make her crazy pregnant horny.
Where are you staying?

Guess I should read this board more

We can pass on Usher. No need to get her more excited than she already is. We have already put ourselves in the predicament we are in with a kiddo on the way.
Hilton Riverside. It's where we stayed for our wedding and being preggo she got sentimental on where she wanted to stay.

FYI: The admins generally anchor threads with one word. Need at least 3.
This made me chuckle. I guess Lafitte's is out for y'all.
What meals are you looking for and how many? Breakfasts/brunch, lunches, dinners?
Any restrictions on cost, location, attire, formality, casual...?
Any types of foods you want to include?
Arse will need this info to assist you.

Thanks. Edited subject.
Looking for all meals.
Cost is not an issue. Do not mind going anywhere within the city.
Looking for 1 or 2 "nicer / formal" restaurants for dinners. Open to anything a little more casual.
Trying to stick to more traditional NOLA type foods. I live in Houston and Mexican, Chinese, and chain type establishments are more than abundant.

Thank you sir. Will keep the Usher card in my back pocket in case things don't go as planned.

You may want to look at the Reveillon dinners.
LINK /
For nicer meals, I suggest you make some decisions quickly and start trying for reservations. You might have some difficulty with some at this late date.
If the wife can eat seafood, I suggest Casamento's for one of your lunches, BUT it's closed on Sunday and Monday, so lunch before you leave town on Tuesday might work.
For a nicer dinner, if you haven't been to Commander's, consider it for the anniversary celebratory meal and tell them it's your anniversary when you make the reservation. Some restaurants do something a little special for those occasions.
Also, for nicer meals, you might consider August, Delmonico, Doris Metropolitan if you're into steaks.
You may want to take a look at Open Table for availability, though I call the restaurants directly even if OT indicates no reservations as sometimes the restaurant will give you one.
ETA: Agree on Gautreau's, Peche and Butcher.

Now, you must tell us where you went and report back. It's a rule.

I think it got anchored because you addressed your post to one poster rather than the board even though you edited your title. You can change that and request that the anchor be removed on the Help Board.

Lilette is another great spot. I'm a big fan.
