Future Daddy Here -- Cord Blood

Any dad's (or Mom's) out there done the Cord Blood for their newborn? My wife is pushing us like crazy to do it, but i'm not sure if the $1,500 is worth it or not. I know there's a lot of good things about it, but i haven't heard one success story about someone that kept the cord blood and actually used it to save their kid's life.
Opinions?
Opinions?

We researched it and decided against it. Didn't seem worth it.

Explain this to me, what are you going to do with it for $1500

Tell her you paid for the storage. But secretly put the money away in an account only you have access to or better yet run home for a quick 'shower' or extra battery pack for camera while she's recovery and bury the money in a pickle jar in the back yard.
Money better spent on a divorce lawyer one day.

We researched it and decided against it. Spending the money wasn't the concern. It was more about the fact that the slim likelihood of the blood being stored correctly and available for use if we needed it swayed the decision. Lots of uncertainty with the business models of the companies that are in that industry

We ate ours that afternoon when it was fresh.

Decided it wasn't worth it; the scenarios where it might be helpful just seemed too unlikely to be worth the money. It's basically useless for the kid, since the conditions would be present in the cord blood as well, so you're just banking it for a possible future sibling that might have a condition. Since we had no family histories of any of the diseases that might be treated, it just didn't seem worth it.

I plan on using my firstborn's cord blood for the baby's first halloween costume.

Look into delayed cord clamping instead.

Not sure if you realize this but you've answered your own question....

There you go.

We did it after #2 was born. Mrs. dog felt the same way about it.
Of course this was 12 years ago and I do not remember spending 1500 bucks for it.
We have never used it and hopefully wont have to.
