I have been dealing with this for quite a bit, I do take meds. Its very frustrating, some days are better then others. It has gotten somewhat better. Generally I get panic attacks just at nighttime for some reason out of no where. Have any of yall overcome this?

My wife deals with the exact same thing. She just recently started taking medicine, and it has helped a little but not much.

It's really hard on her, and it's hard on me too sometimes - because there's literally nothing I can do to make it better.

Hang in there...

My wife has had them often. It seems sex has helped her (not joking).

If you need my help let me know.

Self-medication.

If I'm sober, I worry about the smallest things.

Many go through this. You will learn over time to just say frick it. Generally work related unhappiness causes it but obviously many other things could too. You will learn over time as you feel the anxiety approaching to just take a deep breath and say to yourself it just isn't worth stressing over.

I used to, I think mine was more social anxiety but I know how you feel. Like you said I would just lay in bed and panic for no reason or be in public and panic. I took medication for a few years, then told my doctor one day I didn't want to take them anymore. I've been good since then, I learned that nothing was really that scary. I found that the best way for me to get better was to push myself to do things that terrified me. When it was over I felt better and it got easier each time. I still panic from time to time but it's getting less and less frequent. Take a few deep breaths and push through it. I also pray a lot. Good luck bro.

I really appreciate it everyone!! Thank you for the support. I take it one day at a time, I am fortunate to have great people in my life who care so much about me, they make it so much better. I will overcome this one day, it will take some time though

You have 2 options, find a loved one to spend your time with or be alone and get fricked up.

I never got panic attacks but always had recurring instances where my adrenaline was constantly pumping without a fight/flight situation to trigger it. Doc placed me on Paxil, but the first dose was too high and caused me to not give a frick about anything, but when it was lowered I leveled out. It also upped my alcohol tolerance, fwiw.

Breathing and counting while breathing.

Maybe a physical so when you do get an attack and you start to feel short of breath, dizzy, heavy chest, ect. You will know you are really okay and that it is mental.

Also, try exercising right before bed. Even if it's light exercise. You'll be amazed what exercise will do for anxiety.

Dealt with it most of my adult life and it fricking sucks. The way I deal with it is Lorazopam, breathing training (yes it's a thing and it fricking helps), and running. Hope that helped you and good luck.

Deal with the real problem, don't just drug it. I just don't understand people today. If anything goes wrong, take a drug ! Man up and deal with it or go talk to someone about it. drugs should be your last resort.

I suffer from some PTSD and anxiety. Large crowds, tight spaces and sometimes night sweats/nightmares are all issues I deal with.

No drugs. No sleep medication. Just me and the dogs. I will take the boys out to the camp and set up drills for them to go through, or just go relax on the porch with a bourbon, but that's it. Something about the calm and serenity just helps.

I highly suggest trying out kava. It's a plant that grows on Polynesian islands, and there they grind up the roots and mix with water to make a drink. They drink it for fun much like we drink alcohol in the West.

It has a strong anti-anxiety effect, but you can still think straight unlike alcohol. It does affect the liver if you drink it in excess, but like alcohol, as long as you don't drink too much it's not a factor.

They make it in pills, but I have heard the pills don't work so well, but I haven't tried them myself. I suffer from generalized anxiety and drinking kava destroys the anxiety for me. Unfortunately, it tastes like shite, although some people like it. The good news is that it is not addictive. I try to stay away from drugs because they either have lots of potential for side effects (SSRIs) or are highly addictive (benzodiazepines).

If you are interested in Kava, I purchased mine from here: LINK

It is highly unfortunate that substances that can cure anxiety and depression permanently when used with proper administration and therapy are completely outlawed (psilocybin, LSD, MDMA, etc.). Instead, the pharmaceutical industry pushes band-aid meds like Xanax (of course, they're more interested in collecting money than they are in curing patients--and unfortunately the same goes for many therapists who do nothing but write scripts).

It's part of being an adult, everyone who's not a complete piece of shite deals with the exact same thing. There's a couple of things you can do, heavy drinking will usually help. In the old days you could just find a good woman to settle down with and beat the shite out of her when the worries of the world got to be too much, nowadays a woman who won't call the cops on you is hard to come by. So I'd suggest getting a dog and beating the shite out of that. Good luck
