Peterson was a beast. When Paul Johnson was there and had that offense running on all cylinders, it was beautiful to watch.

Went to a playoff game when they hosted McNeese in Statesboro a few years back and it wasn't terrible. Definitely a I-AA stadium. Not sure if they've expanded since then.

They had to have certain expansions added to the stadium for whatever the regulations are for the FBS, but it's still tiny. Statesboro's population is less than 30,000, including students, so if they can bring in 10,000 fans that's a packed house.

I'm just not sure how consistent GSU/GSU/KSU can be over time. Southern obviously has the upper hand now bc they have an established program but as State and KSU grow it will be tougher to sustain success. Regardless Southern has had a great year, sucks for them bc it probably should have been ever better (looking at the GT game).

Ga State can't even get 5000 people into their games. Very surprised they were allowed to move up to division 1

Agreed. Guy is a really good coach.

Saw Jerick McKinnon and JJ Wilcox beat my Alma mater Central Arkansas in the playoffs a few years ago. Was really impressed by them. Didnt think they'd be doing this good though especially with a new coach and offense

He had to take G Southern because he wasn't getting any real bites. Even from Ga Southern he won't get a real top job (maybe someone like Ga Tech, but only maybe). He'll go to a place like SMU after this season or next, and from there, if successful, he'll launch to a top job.

there is a very small contingent of SMU donors that wanted to get him last year but there were too many June acolytes to make the move.

No, they only have an enrollment of 17,000 undergrads and an endowment of $42 million according to wikipedia. Plus they are not located in a major media market. They do have a shot to get out of the sun belt the next time C-USA is raided.

Are you talking about Georgia Southern or Georgia State with regards to being allowed to move up? This is Georgia State's 2nd year in FBS, Georgia Southern's 1st.

Success on the field is not always the determining factor in moving into a new conference. Market size and overall budget have a lot to do with it.

See FIU, FAU, UNT & MTSU going into CUSA last year.
