At the rear of my house @ 11Am (i live on a corner)

i happen to be home so i come out to see what he wants. He wants to know if I'm selling the boat

Proceeded to walk to the boat in the yard and look

After talking for 10 minutes about what all I've done to the boat he says I would probably want more than he's looking to spend

Should i now be worried about boat theft?

I seem to recall a thread on here a long time ago about this.

Lock it up and take a tire off of it. Pulling that stunt would've gotten him a lesson in manners from me

No, if he saw the boat and wanted to come back and take it he wouldn't have honked the horn to let you know who he was.

unless he honked the horn by accident while getting out or something

But really, who the frick just pulls into a strangers drive way and honks like that? Why not get out and knock on the front door like a normal person? to talk about a boat that's not for sale?

I could only be so lucky for someone to steal my boat. It's worth way more to the ins company than what I can sell it now.

Then I can get a nice new boat.

I worked for a Boat shop in college. The owner and I would ride around on Sundays and if we saw a boat in someone's yard that looked like it hadn't been used in a while we'd stop by and make a lowball offer. He carried a stack of hundred dollar bills tall as the 10oz beer we were drinkin. Picked up boats for ridiculously cheap prices, cleaned them up and made serious profit.

ETA: We never blew the horn, always knocked on the door.

Maybe he blew the horn to see if anyone would come out. If no one did, he would steal the boat. If someone did, he would pretend to be interested in buying it but it would be just too expensive.

Put a video on the boat and a mess of red wasp in the trailer hitch...

ETA: Do you like the boat and is the insurance paid...

Oldest trick in the book.

1. Honk in the driveway to see if someone comes out.
2. Knock on the door to double check.
3. Kick in the back door and rob you blind.

take a wheel off the trailer seems like the easiest solution.

sorry had to step out

I'm with you guys .....very strange

I mean who comes to the back

Why not knock on the front door?

Its got a hitch lock ( a good one and a pad lock) but you could detach the whole tongue with two bolts. also have cameras installed around the perimeter of the house

I will be on guard

I saw a lady cutting grass in a bikini one time and stopped to watch her. I then asked her husband if she was for sale. He said she would be if she quit cutting the grass.
