Each side does what it thinks helps their chances. It's not too hard to figure out.

but i thought it was ok to regulate exercising fundamental rights as long as you used "common sense" to describe the regulation
Posted on 10/26/14 at 6:43 pm to SlowFlowPro
And since you seem to think these things are being done to help the country, what is the reason for curtailing early voting?
Posted on 10/26/14 at 6:44 pm to SlowFlowPro
I can't help what you think

no idea. we're setting records over here
but isn't the ohio reg shortening it from 28 days to 21 days? 21 days of voting prior to election day isn't enough? what is enough?
we only have 14 days here. no issues

Early voting today is hated because black people vote early.
Therefore there are efforts in red run states to curtail early voting.
This board will regularly argue that they want voting to be hard.
I want people to vote.
Some people can't vote on election day for whatever reason, some people like to avoid lines.
I do think that there are some people who try to pass laws to help them get into office. But I could care less if the dems take control because more people vote.
All who are citizens should vote, I think it is good for them to vote, but to help avoid fraud make people show an ID.
as I said it's easy, most people carry around an ID everywhere with them. How hard is it to take your wallet out of your pocket show the people your ID and go vote. If you don't have an ID that is on you. Plus there are many things you can only do if you have an ID. Air travel, many times you have to show an ID when you pay with a credit card. Buying alcohol ect.
I doubt many people don't have IDs. If you don't I'm sure there are easy ways to get them even if it's not a license.
But I also early voted, I go to school a couple hours from my precinct. So I was able to go home this weekend. Stopped at the state archives building showed my ID and voted. So very easy.

I've lived in the same polling district for 33 years. Each election day I have to show my ID even though one of the officials knows me as our children went to school together.
What is the problem?
What is the problem?

Wait till Jesse and Al hear about this. shite gone get real.
Edit: I don't think you should be allowed to vote early unless you're in the military stationed outside your district.

That is the dumbest thing I have ever read on this board, and that is saying something. You do realize that almost every other country that has elections require some kind of id, either photo id, fignerprint on the ballot, etc?

Violently so.

The wife and I early voted on Saturday and had to show our ID's. We both felt so incredibly oppressed that we immediately went to the LSU tailgate to drown our sorrows (and followed that with some tasty burgers from Fat Cow).
Oh, the humanity!

Well why are people on the other side too stupid/lazy to acquire an ID?

For these two examples, they were able to get an ID at one time in their lives. Now, not so much. Lib media salivates:
Case #1. Former CA Woman driving on TX roads without a license. Texas woman threatened with jail after applying for voter ID
quote:
She has houses in both California and Texas and goes back and forth between the two, but decided several years ago to switch her voting residency to Texas.
quote:
It is illegal to drive in Texas on another state’s driver’s license 90 days after moving into the state.
quote:
“It was like a Nazi interrogation about how I can't be driving with a California ID,” Messinger said. “I was completely intimidated and freaked out.”
Case #2. 'Born and raised' Texans forced to prove identities under new voter ID law
quote:
He presented them with his old personal ID card – issued by the DPS itself and with his photo on it – but because it is more than 60 days expired (it ran out in 2000) they didn’t accept it. Next he showed them an electricity bill, and after that a cable TV bill, but on each occasion they said it didn’t cut muster and turned him away.
Each trip to the DPS office involved taking three buses, a journey that can stretch to a couple of hours. Then he had to stand in line, waiting for up to a further three hours to be seen, before finally making another two-hour schlep home.
quote:
So what passes as a reckless binge for Eric Kennie – a splurge on about $10-worth of fried chicken – is less than half of what he spent getting himself a copy of his birth certificate.
The outcome was perhaps predictable by now: the birth certificate wasn’t up to scratch either. When he took it to the DPS (another three buses there, three buses back, another two hours waiting in line) they told him that the name on the birth certificate didn’t match the name on his voter registration card. The birth certificate has him down as Eric Caruthers – his mother’s maiden name – even though his parents were married at the time he was born.

What part of "VALID id" do these people not understand? lol
Posted on 10/27/14 at 4:46 pm to McChowder
Those two examples are precisely why there needs to be more integrity in our voting system. The lady could very well vote in both TX and CA. The man has used at least 2 names and could conceivably obtain a voter registration card for each name.
