Overall it was a really good meal. I'd give it a 3.5 out of 5
That seems pretty harsh to me….when I think of a 3.5 star outta 5, I'm thinking a place like Juan's. It's good for what it is but not mind blowing…JS has a chance to be an elite restaurant in the city.
Overall, even with our semi-blunders last night, I still give it a 4.5 based on the ambience, attitude of service, value, overall food quality, the menu itself is badass…the place is just somewhere you go where everyone is having a good time…Besh looked like he was 21 again running around with a smile at every table…I think the food has nowhere to go but up as well.
eta: I guess I could see a 3.5 based solely on what we had last night (salty barbacoa, grizzle in carne asada, missed entries, etc.) my vote is more on excitement and potential.

Let's hit up here, Peche, and another great place to eat next time I'm in Nola. Idk when that will be.
And we can check out Courtyard Brewery

Yeah, I think as long as you're not in a rush and willing to try a few different dishes you will enjoy JS. I would give it a 4-4.5 with room for improvement.
The menu certainly is enticing and I will be back for more research. Soon!
ETA: If you are willing to split food, that is the best way to dine at JS. We were able to try over 1/2 the taco list in our first trip. Go with a group and split a bunch of items.

Eh, I just received it at 8:00 this morning. I think they use community.

Is it open? I haven't heard much.
FYI- I'm still want to try those empanadas, the queso fundido, and that lamb enchilada with the mole sauce. Damn this place!!
Zealot- How was the choco-taco?

Thanks for the review. We're taking my mother in law there tomorrow evening for her birthday. Definitely looking forward to it.

Just went for lunch. Had the shrimp ceviche tostada, barbacoa tacos and fried fish tacos. It was all great and they randomly comped one of the taco orders. Will be a new staple.

VOR- Wise made a special appeal to that Johnny fella and he stated you and your clients are welcome anytime.
So when I bring the nuns and orphans from the diocese it's all good, right?
ETA: Thanks for the invitation.

VOR-you're always invited. Zealot said he thought you were meeting us.
ETA: I'd be happy to join when your clients want to try it.

Nice review and I'll try it.
One thing though.
Gristle.
Gristle.
Not grizzle.

I went last night and was sort of disappointed. Also, that place is so loud that I could barely have a conversation. I'm going to go back for lunch one day this week. I know the place is new, so I'm not going to write it off or anything quite yet.

It's been made quite clear to me that the 5-6 items we ordered were apparently the 5-6 worst on the menu Figures with my luck.
I am not in a rush to return because I don't live in the city, and I don't see myself choosing it when I come in. But I definitely haven't "written it off" either.
