We'd be in our 20's making around 350k+. I'm willing to consider that F-You money. It may not be Bill Gates type of F-You money, but I'm willing to live with calling it that
it really comes down to what makes you happy not what makes other people happy, I passed that milestone a ways back(I'm older than you I'm sure,) but $350k is not F-You $, I've got a friend that gambles away more than that every year and doesn't even bat an eye about it

My situation is a little different, in that my wife makes $0. Not like she's working and makes less, she's a full-time student in professional school.
Hang in there man, there IS a light at the end of the tunnel.
I just got done doing the same thing for 2.5 years (plus having a baby during that time). My wife has been working for about 2 months, and the morning her first paycheck hit, we checked the account on the phone and it sounded like I hit the lottery
Then she had to have a new Mercedes the next week

I did put her through grad school though, so I have some entitlement to the process.
That's how I justify mine making more than me. I was the sole bread winner for several years while she was finishing school. Plus they over pay drug dealers anyway or I would still be whipping her.

I wouldn't call 100k some line in the sand

Hell, I make nearly twice the average US household income alone, and my wife makes more than twice I make. I don't really care since I work as a design engineer in a low stress environment, and she is a global manager with an assload of stress. I'll take less stress less money all day!! Her motivation is work though. Mine is pleasure.

I bet she blows you twice a day too, huh?

Preaching to the choir. Wife has been in med school for 3+ years. Graduates in May. Then 5 years of residency and 2 years of fellowship before any real cheese hits the floor. But then, hell she'll be making 4x what I do. It's all an investment (at least that's what I tell myself).

No thanks. It's under appreciated, but that doesn't mean it wasn't the best choice. In hindsight it's 100% the right degree for undergrad. I should have gotten another undergrad in ME instead of the MS in EE, but oh well.
I was just messing with you. Money isn't important to me. But then again, I have a lot of it. Oh well.

My wife makes twice what I make. I think it's great!

got a couple of side ventures, but wide body Capt.'s at decent companies can get into the mid to high 200's

Mine already picked hers out
Can't fault her, though. I've picked out my graduation gift (new car) for when she graduates, too
ETA: my wife should probably be preparing dinner, rather than reading this thread

If I could just get my wife to work, I would be happy.

you should use that time to build your net worth by living like you did while she was in school instead of taking on debt on depreciating assets

I've had a pretty charmed career. Lot of being at the right place at the right time, and being willing and able.
