U got that right, any snap valentine can give us. He's probably better or just as good as what we have now. Cause if he sits we'll lose the whole year on him then only have him for two more probably!
Half of year is better than no year, then next year he'll have 7 or 8 quality games experience instead of none. If he's as good as avertized he'll be a beast next year! Bringing LSU's D-Line back to normal!!'

Exactly, he's still over his ideal weight but is talked about as our best D-lineman.

Man some people are crazy. I'll take a disruptive force of a man at 360 to take on double teams. Will free up our faster guy like Godchaux to make plays in the backfield. It will also help the LBs and DEs to create more of a pass rush.

Please Jesus let this be true. He should be playing at Florida.

If ever amounts to anything in regards to the football world, then he can take his big self over and help our defense on first downs to say the least.

Even an out of shape, and under-informed freshman, that is simply big and quick could really help our defense on first downs

Chavis' most successful defenses at Tennessee and LSU all had large gap filling dt's. John Henderson, Brockers, Logan, haynesworth, ect. Those guys allowed the lbs to roam. We don't have anything near a gap filling DT right now that's playing.

It pissed me off to no end that it's the SEC, everyone knows our defensive line was our weakest link and this is who gets flagged.

He will play if he is

1. Best DT we have
2. Is good as advertised (Evidently so from practice reports)
3. Is that big and can move
4. Sitting a year and not playing would make him stray and possibly do something he is not supossed to
5. Best Reason: If he is that good he would leave anyway after 3 years in school (Ala Brockers), so why redshirt him if he can help us win 2-3 games because of him playing ASAP

Valentine is supposed to be an absolute monster. If that is true, redshirting him is actually wasting a year. If he is anywhere near as good as he is expected to be, he will not be on campus for 5 years, so it would be silly to redshirt him.
