What do you mean? A current state worker (traditional family, wife, 2 kids) pays $380 a month in premiums. Then you have deductibles and co-pays. How is that "a ride"?

Because the actual cost of that policy is $10k to $12k per year.
Welcome to the new world.

Is your former plan not subsidized by the state?

You aren't going to get a lot of commiseration on the OT. There's a very misinformed, anti-state worker sentiment on this board.
I'm pretty bummed about how drastic the changes are, but like all the other changes, me and my family will just roll with it as best we can.
Gonna go with the plan that's comparable to my current coverage and see how it hits the finances for a year.

Dude, I pay over $500 a month for myself and $600 a month for just the wife. I'm retired. Get a real job.

The insurance is too damn high. Before the new enrollment period starts, right now I pay for the family (wife, 3 kids) $252 a month. Plus I get most generics free and all eye drops free.

That doesn't sound bad at all.
For 2014, our employee portion of the premium was $444.00 per pay period (26 pay periods per year) for a family. Currently working on next year's numbers and it looks like the premium will go up 15%(possibly more), deductibles will increase to over $1,000.00 and not sure if there will be any co-pays until after the deductible is first met. These numbers do not include vision or dental.

Oh, boo-hoo. I pay more than twice that in premiums. It went up 25% last year and I expect it to go higher this year.

Someone has lived in a bubble and isn't aware of what average folks have to pay. At least you had a sweet ride for awhile.

I pay twice that just for health insurance, with co pays and a 2500 ded. That doesn't include dental or vision.

I know you think you were proving your case with that statement but all you did was prove the other side's point.

Me, wife and 2 kids pay over 800/month. I'll trade with you

You should be thanking our president.

It should be around $750/month for family coverage. I'm glad it's finally happening. I've called my senator and state rep and given them my opinion that the changes are needed. Don't buckle to the state employee unions.

That would cost me at least $600 a month plus with BCBS through my employer. That is not bad
